Will the 14th gen F-150 be delayed?

Since Ford along with just about all the other automakers have shut down their plants, does this mean the 2021 F-150 will be delayed?

Can Ford afford to wait since this is the most important vehicle launch to their bottom line?

Depends when production was scheduled to start? Do we know when that's supposed to be?

The further away the start was supposed to be, the less likely it'll be delayed. But if production start date happens to be while the US is still dealing with virus shutdowns then for sure it'll be delayed.

I'm hopeful there won't be (much) delay. Ford issued a press release about how they are responding to this crisis.

“At the same time, Ford announced it has suspended the company’s dividend, prioritizing near-term financial flexibility and continued investments in an ambitious series of new-product launches in 2020 and long-term growth initiatives.”

They still mention the new product launches this year which surely includes the 2021 F-150. Question is whether "launch" means reveal only or we will be able to reserve/order it and how long it could delay production.

A dealer just posted this today about the upcoming Mach-E EV: Mach-E order bank opens May 11, 2020.

So if that's any indication it sounds like the Mach-E is on schedule at least. Granted it starts production later than the 2021 F-150.

I think that'd be a good strategy. Ford's now building ventilators for the country and they can mention or feature that in their ads to gain good will with the public.

So after this is all over, they can make inspiring ads featuring how they were busy helping out Americans with healthcare equipment production during the crisis but are now back to building the best trucks for Americans.
