On a turbo engine I'd say 5k for full synthetic would make more sense for longevity.
Ok. Thanks for the suggestion. I'm heading to the dealer on 2/25 for recall 21S56. I'll speak to them about upgrading the works package to full synthetic then for my truck and the Explorer my boss (wife) drives.

On my last 3 fill ups, I got 19.2, 21.3, 21.6 mpg. These were mostly miles on I-95 between Richmond, VA and Orlando, FL, and were all hand calculated. I was going the speed limit, which was mostly 70 mph. This was done while breaking in the engine. Currently have 2,031 miles on the truck.

Why or why not?
According to my Owner's Manual (3.5L EcoBoost) I can run either 87 or 93 octane. However, the stated HP and Torque will only be realized if using 93 octane, and those numbers will be lower if using 87 octane. I believe that minimal depreciation in MPG can also be expected on 87 octane.

What do I burn? I burn 87 regularly, unless I am planning on towing one of my trailers or hauling a heavy load, then I fill up with 93. When the tow/haul task is concluded, I go back to 87.

Regarding the lower MPG on 87... to me, the decrease in MPG is offset by the high price of the 93. It's a wash, in my mind (I will admit that I have not actually crunched the numbers).
