Austin TX as well, premium gas is relatively cheap. I've only been running 93 octane. It's not just an increase in efficiency, but the engine itself almost feels like a different engine going from 93 to 87. It's feels more responsive to requests for power and less sluggish. Hard to put my finger on it, but I can definitely tell.

We are $4.59 for premium. Welcome to CA, land of the rip off for *everything*
Don’t worry, not far off here in NY. Lots of social programs to pay for!

"Who is using Premium in California" and "why isn't your Personal Assistant posting for you" would be my question.

$4.35 a gallon for Primo!

...and the closer you get to the Refinery in Martinez, the more it costs!

I must be out of my mind buying a Full size, V8 truck in CA right now.

I noticed on my recently generated window sticker that the driving range with the 5.0 is 742 miles with gasoline, compared to 519 miles with ethanol. I thought that was interesting.

Not at all, ethanol has much less energy value, so you will burn more of it.

I have a Powerboost.
I have a choice here where I live between Shell 87 octane zero ethanol and Shell 91 octane with 10% ethanol.......which would you choose?
We don't have any 93 octane available at all in our small city of 100,000.

3.5 ecoboost here with about 2,700 miles and I'm averaging 18.4 mpg on 87 octane.

I'm getting around 16.5 but I have a heavy foot and that's the reading from the truck.

I'd go with the higher octane. The truck will detect it and will respond accordingly. You'll likely notice a difference.

A buddy at work, suggested mid grade all the time.
He has a friend who delivers fuel who said If hes got a tanker of premium and can't pump it all into the in ground tank, they pump the rest into the midgrade tank....always go back with an empty truck.
So, mid grade here, with every 4th fill up, premium.
That's interesting. I might ask one of the tanker drivers next time I see them. If he does the same thing here in MI - schwing!
