While my payload is embarrassing low compared most (all so far lol), it fits my needs. I don't do heavy hauling. I probably would have been as happy with a mid or large SUV but I like that I can throw bigger stuff in the back and not have to worry about dirt, etc.
Ford F-150 Who has the “lowest” payload? payload

I was wondering why I can haul moderately heavy groceries (and am banned), whereas @Antimatter22 can only haul marshmallows and pillows and remained unbanned. That factory tonneau is probably a significant factor. Are the door sills on the Limited made from gold and lead? 😂

Tonneau probably factors in the label rating a decent amount. I ended up replacing it with a hard roll up a month after I got the truck. It didn't feel incredibly heavy to me as I was able to remove it by myself. Speaking of which, anyone want to buy a Ford retractable tonneau? Lol

My max payload is two cups of coffee before it hits. Just sayin.

Love the thread!

All I know is that these trucks with Payloads below 1500#'s?
They are all wickedly nice to live with, if you know what I mean. 😁

And I bet every one of them is welcomed relief to all when the PowerGrid isn't available and they are wanting a cup of coffee at sunrise?

I'm just saying

Man some of these real low ones are spitting distance of my wife's tiny Mazda CX30 at like 950lbs.

Any guesses at the payload on the new Lightnings with the supercharged coyote? I just read the added weight of the package is 430 lbs. I'll disagree that the wheel weight impacts payload, but I do wonder how much of that figure comes from the stupid 22s.

Wonder how much of this is tied to title/registration.
Have to keep within a certain number to avoid bigger costs.
Years ago, in many states, one needed a “GVW under 6000” decal on the truck to avoid excess fees.
Also years ago, one could get a half ton in different weight classes.
My 79 was available with: 4900, 5600, 6100 GVW
Payloads from 700 on up to 1k ish
3/4 ton started with 6200 and went up.

Now we are looking at over 7k for some of these and payloads at the bottom of the pile starting where they ended not the mid 80s

Hell, my little 82 Dodge Ram was under 700
(Slant 6, 4spd OD), but a real soft ride.
Just putting an engine in the back took a lot of weight from the steering.
