Whipple Tomahawk vs Livernois MyCalibrator

Techie question, why doesn't the Whipple tune/tuner need to connect directly to the ECM under the hood like Livernois?

I was thinking maybe Whipple has ties to Ford who shared the "secret handshake" to simply upload the tune through the ODBII.....

Has to be that because yea you just connect the tomahawk at the OBD2 and the SCT I had to connect direct under the hood.

I was able to confirm that Whipple and Ford Performance/Whipple worked with Ford on the tunes (nanny guards) and installing the tune via the ODBII port. Pretty cool…
