Wondering what gas grades are you guys using for your 2.7 EcoBoost? Regular grade (87) or Premium (91 or 94) grade?

I've always ran premium grade in my Evolution X Final Edition. It uses premium stock, ran great for the turbos!

Yeah my cousin has a 2.7 EcoBoost where I have the 3.5 EcoBoost, both 2021s. I'm running 91 premium just like you are after the dealership filled gas ran out. These gas prices, regardless how good our jobs are, is just insane! Since Thanksgiving, its been going up a little by little. We're thinking of switching to 87 when the 91 finishes. Not sure if its a good idea?

You will make a little more power with premium, but I have run 80k trouble free miles in my '16 2.7 on 87 octane. Never had any driveability or power issues and always get a weekly average of 20 to 23 mpg, mixed driving. I will be running 87 in my new 21 2.7 as well.

I do run top tier fuel exclusively, though.....

I only use Marathon gasoline. 89 octane day to day, and fill up with Premium prior to towing our camper. ‘21 STX 4x4 with 2.7eb

I've been running almost exclusively Costco 91 since its basically at the same price that everyone else's regular is around here. Seems to run fine with either fuel though.

It’s a hard decision lol, gas prices here in Canada seems to be going up (I’m in Alberta) and it’s ridiculously priced for premium, think it’s around $1.60/L now where it was just $1.42/L last week. We were seeing if maybe switching back to 87 would be fine, however my cousin and I have both been running 91 premium ever since the first fill up after the dealer gas (believe it’s regular 87 at pick up).

Just did my first couple days on 91 and am returning 24mpg (babying in eco) with 3.55s. On dealer gas is was just under 23 in the same drive mode. Throttle response for sure feels better with 91, really effortless!
Difference in fill-up is $13 between 87 and 91 ($0.50x26gal=$13) . With additional MPG only saving about 1 gallon per fill I think the extra $10 is worth it. Just my $0.02

I've always used 87 for the five years and 41 K miles that are on the truck. Overall mileage at 27.x as figured by computer and by hand. Yeah, I drive like an old man. The truck has been flawless. I'll add that the truck has never been used as a truck, never pulled a trailer, or hauled over 500 lbs.

Thanks for this! I agree, honestly for city driving for like 60-70% of the time, I feel 87 (regular) would be enough. For hauling a trailer or heavy load, the premium would work.

I always put 87 in my 2015 3.5 EB since day one, and never had any issues with it. I do the same with my 21 limited PB.

Im doing 91, just because I hate myself lol. I have noticed a light MPG change for the better, from my first gas tank (im assuming dealer topped it off with 87) and since I started fueling her up.

Haha I’m currently using 91 on my 3.5EB and I drive it a lot from work, etc; only reason why I’m debating to go back to 87 cause the gas prices just went up again. $1.60/L from like $1.40/L just 2 days ago (western Canada). Just keeps going up often then down recently. I do see a slight change but not enough to convince if it’s actually worth the obnoxious price lol
