I *think* Eco mode doesn't have any impact on how it selects when to shut off the engine and go electric to get you better MPG's, I think all it does is prevent you from flooring it on take offs. That's all it does in my wife's car, and it appears to be the only effect in the powerboost. I don't notice any difference in MPG, as one that doesn't floor it anyway.
Idk how anybody getting close to the 24 advertised. I drive pretty cautiously too.. 18.5 average on a 1000 miles....

Just hit 9500 miles on mine. Left trip 2 running since 50 miles. Mpg is at 22.8. Done a few hand calculations of combined city and driving and usually between 22-23. Stays pretty consistent once I hit 4k on

What app is this?
That app is called PURE GAS
Its primarily a gas station tracker to help you find PURE GAS and not that Ethanol Corn Fuel substitute. But part of the app tracks mileage rather nicely.

I will have the next update in a couple days showing what happened to my mileage when I switched from 87 to 91 octane.....

I like the app Carfax. You can log all your maintenance and gas. Plus it will tell you what your vehicle is worth

With 2,500 miles of CITY driving I can now say I am getting a pretty solid 21MPG from my 21 Platinum 4x4 SuperCrew 6.5’ PowerBoost.

I drove from SF to LA last night. Over the Grapevine. The gas was 2/3 premium fill and the 1/3 regular that was in the tank. Averaged 75 MPH, 21 MPG, which I think is pretty good at that speed with crappy CA E10 gas.

I watch the 'This Trip' screen religiously. In the city the BEST i've ever gotten is 23 MPG, but most commonly around 21-22MPG. I've seen a difference in the city using Eco mode over Normal mode but not more than 1-1.5 MPG. Highway the best i've gotten is about 22MPG (<65MPH speeds only on hills, 70MPH flat land it's less than 21MPG); I've settled on only using Normal drive mode 2h on highway as I've not seen any savings there either way.

Lariat supercrew pb 4x4 with max tow package and 6.5 box for reference.

Has anyone consolidated the findings here? Any hopes in approaching Ford or the EPA in how the heck they came up with 24MPG given we are all way off from 10% variance, struggling to reach 15% lower than listed?

Ford nor the EPA guarantee 24 MPG, so approaching them is pointless. They use a specific test loop that may not reflect your driving. It's meant to be a standard to compare against other vehicles, not a guarantee of your mileage. So if you get 23 MPG with an F-150 rated at 24 in the EPA test loop, you may get 19 MPG in a RAM rated for 20. Also, you will see that an XL 4x4 F-150 PB is rated for 24 MPG but so is a Limited PB F-150. You would have to be nutty to think that both of those trucks would get equivalent MPG when one is a few hundred lbs heavier than the other.

If I ever became supreme ruler of the world, one of my first changes would be to do away with the EPA rating system as it is, and go to a scale based system like they use for smog on the window sticker, then people will stop thinking they will FOR SURE see the rating on the window, and instead know if the F-150 gets a 5 and a RAM gets a 4, then the F-150 will on average return better fuel economy, and a 5 would be 20-24MPG, a 4 would be 16-20, etc.

This is literally where we get the phrase “your mileage may vary”

I am at about 800 miles and am now seeing about 20 mpg over the last 300 miles or so. For whatever reason my mileage got 1 or 2 MPG better when I quit trying to get good mileage and just started driving the way I normally do.

I am hopeful that it will get another couple of MPG better as it breaks in. We will see.
