My most impressive trip yet, though not really a "typical" route. This was returning from mtb in Blackhawk, CO (elevation 8500') back down to the metro-Denver area (elevation 5400'), on a 40-50mph curvy road. Long periods of elevation decline let me stay in electric for miles at a time. While driving it was as high as 70+ mpg, but ended up at 40.5 mpg for the full trip.

Start easy through 3rd, then accelerate somewhat aggressively but not too much (to recharge the battery) to about 5 mph faster than you intend to drive; let off accelerator to bleed of the the extra mphs and you get more electric only use.

It really is an interactive game of finding the sweet spots.

Also use 91 octane.

Just filled up at the pump (when it clicked 1st time, I stopped pumping).

The TRIP GAUGE that I zeroed out the last time I filled up indicates that I traveled 460.9 miles and that I got 23.6 mpg. However, the PUMP indicates that it took 21.25 gallons to fill it back up, which comes out to 21.69 for REAL mpg. That's a 2 mpg discrepancy.

Weirder yet is that after I filled up the tank my estimated distance to empty on the dash was only 635 miles estimated distance to empty...I was expecting it to read over 700 miles.

I'd go with the trip gauge :p

? On a couple trips my "This Trip Gauge" has indicated over 26mpg with one 15 mile trip last week showing 28.3mpg. Yes, I love the trip gauges (those gauges makes me feel good ?),

My new estimating miles until empty mpg number is probably the computer predicting that my next full tank will only last 635 miles (20.75 mpg x 30.6 gallon tank size) because I haven't broke in the turbo chargers yet. ?

I've noted that the Miles to Empty varies a lot depending on the most recent dashboard MPG. However, once you get down to 200 MTE & below it appears to become quite accurate based on my fillup gallons. When it says 200 or 100 or 50 or 25 MTE... It means it.

Also regarding octane: Octane rating does not tell you how much energy gasoline has. Octane only conveys resistance to detonation. The only time you need to use something higher than the 87 specified is if you're towing a heavy load, summertime, hot day up a long steep climb. Like going over South Pass in Wyoming or climbing the 7 Mile Hill on I-64 in West Virginia...

My last tank. Hand calc from the pump shows 19.8 mpg. About 60% on rural roads 45 - 55 mph and the rest short trips in town. All my eco meters are 97% and up. Running 87 octane and have 275/70/18 General Grabber ATx P rated tires that weigh 46 lbs each which is 8 lbs heavier than the stock Goodyear Wrangler AT tires..

On many occasions I get 25+ mpg but those trips are only 3 -5 miles each so they don't do much to bring the average up. On just as many occasions I make a 2 - 3 mile round trip in the morning while the truck is cold and get 15 mpg.

My first tank of dealer gas on my PowerBoost Limited worried me. I babied the truck and still only got 17 to 18 mpg. With 30 miles left in tank I filled it with kwiltrip 91 octane gas. Kwik trip sells high quality gas btw. Next two short trips around town I have gotten 25-26 mpg. Astounding the difference good quality gas makes.

I just got one of these. 600+ miles out of the first tank, mostly around town with some country "highways". No freeway driving yet. Lifting it 3 inches and throwing on 34" Cooper At3's so will report back after the first full tank post mod.

Ok this was rainy day and we traveled at approx. 65mph on hwy from Miami to Delray Beach and the traffic was light only 10 miles or so side streets with the majority of miles on the hwy. I use reg. gas, I am very happy with these numbers.

My first few tanks were in the 600mile range. Best so far was just under 800 miles doing the best I could with the coach. But I am averaging 650 in the city and 725 on the road. 60-65MPH is a real sweet spot for mileage and you'll see it go down the faster you go. Cruising at 80, I get about 700 miles. It did improve over the first 1500 miles or so. All on 87 octane, Tier 1 ("Top Tier") gas.

Post 3” lift and 34” AT tires I’m stilling doing better that 20 mpg with the driving I do on a normal basis. Still haven’t been on an interstate but enough time around 65 to agree with you completely. The engine(s!) are definitely going to struggle with that much added rotational mass at 70+. I’ll be more than happy with 22city/18highway.
