Fuel costsCan u elaborate?
I enjoyed my 2017 with 2.7 but I opted for the PowerBoost this time. My 2013 was the 5.0 and I was kicking myself when I signed the contract for the 2017 but didn't regret it except for the growl from the exhaust. So much publicity, dealers were pushing customers to test drive them. Dealers had so many on the lots. Seems it's not the engine of choice any more.
I have had the V8 2015, I have the 2018 2.7 502A lariat now. Honestly love both engines, miss the growl of the V8 just a little. Excited for my new 2021 502A lariat, just noticed very few are ordering the 2.7 liter.
Am I missing something? They aren't any long tern problems that I am aware of to discourage this motor selection. The gas mileage hasn't lived up to the hype, but still was a good performer.
Just wondering what peoples thoughts were?

Have gone up $.40 here where I am in the last 10 days
I’ve never seen real world data that says the 3.5 gets 1 mpg less than the 2.7. I’ve always seen 3-5 mpg less across the board. I’ve never seen anyone rave about the 3.5 mpg.I guess 2.7 would have a smaller market on the used side but I think there will still be a market for it.
I'm not downing this engine but for me, why order a 2.7 when you can get the 3.5 with 75 more hp and 100 more ft lbs of torque. That is a Big difference and only losing 1 MPG, that's a no brainier for me.
Now if you are shopping for a used or new F150 with the eco motor, which one do you think most people will want.
That’s what I was going to mention, just got the confirmation for my Bronco today with a 2.7L. It will probably be the main engine for the next couple years. Glad to hear people like it in the F150, we are getting the Platinum PowerBoost so I will be able to compare them.Plenty of 2.7s going into those new Broncos...
Wow, Wow... on a brand new vehicle with no engine break in.So, on my way back from the dealership, 90 miles, I got an average of 25.4 MPG on my brand new 2.7. Mostly flat highway driving with two or three large inclines and corresponding declines.
That’s fantastic. I am hoping once the weather warms here in Michigan and we get transitioned to summer gas, my MPG gets a bump from my current 21.5 - 22.0.So, on my way back from the dealership, 90 miles, I got an average of 25.4 MPG on my brand new 2.7. Lariat, 501A 3.55 ratio, 4x4Wow, Wow... on a brand new vehicle with no engine break in.
What trim do you have? 4x4?
Anyone else experiencing new and improved mileage on their 2021 compared to any other years with the 2.7?
I drive conservative and have never seen that on my 2018 502A lariat.
honestly 22 is not bad! Once I get more used to the truck and I drive a little faster and more fun I’ll be happy with 22 lolThat’s fantastic. I am hoping once the weather warms here in Michigan and we get transitioned to summer gas, my MPG gets a bump from my current 21.5 - 22.0.
Too funny wanted more power but got the 400 hp. Hybrid gives most hp 430 which I ordered and pickup just over a week ago. So far it's very good and getting just over 23mpg. If they didn't mess with the 5.0 engine, I would've ordered it with a supercharger on it. Needless to say city and highway I am very happy.I can't help myself, I want the most power I can get.
With the 3.5 eco going to 400 hp and 500 ftlb of torque, that is too much difference from the 2.7 with with little lose of MPGs and small price difference.
I do tow a fairly heavy bass boat and some odd ball stuff here and there and the 2.7 could do it but like I said, more hp and low end torque gets my vote every time.
Keeps from working the motor as hard.
3.5 hybrid is the quickest and best mpg. City mpg will be great as well because most of the time it's using electric power. Not for long...
