Thanks for that info -- thought the circuit would have to support the full 80 amps.
The circuit has to be 100A to support the full 80A, but you can set it lower to use on lower capacity circuits.

I bought the GRIZZL-E 40A Level 2 EVSE, because it cost $459, the Ford 48A EVSE is $799. I may wind up eventually getting the 48A EVSE to use at home, and use the GRIZZL-E at somewhere like my parents house. (The included EVSE would be used while on vacation). The circuit this will be on will be on a 60A breaker, in case I do eventually buy the Ford 48A EVSE. Although... Ford's 48A has a much thinner charge cable compared to the GRIZZL-E.

The GRIZZL-E has jumpers where you can set it to 16A, 24A, 32A and the full 40A

I'll be using this to monitor power usage from the EVSE so I can get an accurate cost of charging the Lightning (which would include any losses in the system from charging)

That evse is pretty highly rated. I'd buy one if my GE fails.
One reason I bought mine was also the fact I could select current levels. A few years ago I didn't have any idea about how to charge and what my usage was. Lucky for me my power company has a smart meter that was installed years ago. Thought it was just to save me from telling them the readings but it does hour by hour readings. Found out my little car charging for 2 hours at night on a 30A circuit does just fine for my daily commute. I'd assume 4 hours to match the F150 use or double the charge current and I'd still have plenty on my 100A panel left over. Most typical F150 drivers may never need to charge above 16A over night is my guess. Only those that deplete the battery need a higher charger.

Is the 48 amp Ford connected charger the same model for the Mach E as well as the lightning? On the Ford website for buying a charger it only shows the $799 charger being listed for use with the Mach E.

Iā€™m fairly certain itā€™s the only 48A Ford sells, and since it has the standard J1772 plug, it will work with any non-Tesla EV (Lightning included) right out of the box.

You donā€™t have to wire up the 80amp @ 80. It will run as low as 20 amps from what I read. I dont plan on wiring it up at 80 amps.

Iā€™m putting in 100amp circuit breaker and 2 gauge wire but will operate at 48 amps initially. I will try 80 amps at some point, hoping that lights donā€™t dim and TV doesnā€™t shut off.

I plan to crank mine up and see if I can make the neighborā€™s lights dim! šŸ˜€

You'll trip your main breaker, or the breaker the EVSE is on, before that happens.

I don't think you can do the 80A delete on ER battery selection unless you are a fleet buyer.
I do wonder about an ability to delete the 80A pro charger since it also includes installation.
Includes installation, nope. Sell on open market. A lot pro & xlt owners will be happy to buy with slight discount.

Bet it will go the way of the Tesla charger.
