I I bought a used Backflip MX4 off someone for the long bed for $300. A steal and liking it so far.

Took it to look at possibly trading in the bus for a smaller travel trailer for week trips vice longer. Omg the choices are vast and well..confusing
I like the alliance delta rear bath 30 footer
Trying to stay no b8gger than 30 feet and under 9k lbs
Nice unit, I'm sure HAL will be happy to tote that around for you. :)

Yup...really wanting 30 or under.
After today, my mind is a blurr
Sounds pretty close to the half ton limit 🙂
Do you think the truck/trailer combo is easier, cheaper, or more convenient? Having never done either but I am getting closer to choosing.

Honestly....the 40 foot clas A is rock steady 7.5 mpg at 65 , all over the country , and that's pulling a car hauler trailer with vehicle or just flat toeing the edge.
That includes the7500 watt diesel generator running close to 97% of time when not hooked up at camp ground
I can tow 11k with the f150..but in my comfort zone 8k is max with 700 to 1k tongue weight. On weight distribution hitch..
30 foot camper is because we don't run as far away or take as long of trips as much as we did.
But today's trip was to reset the brain so to speak.
We have certain non negotiable items
2. Roof ac units at least 13k btu.
Good sized kitchen counters, I like to cook. Plus coffee maker room
Outside grill hookups,
Cargo capacity of 1900 or more
I install water softener and reverse osmosis. Because water sucks at campgrounds generally.
Those 2 items add 100 lbs easy
I have superb theater seats to carry my 6 '3 frame. We found today the offerings were short about 10 to 12 inches...
Weird.
Most had very adequate storage for 2 people for 5 to 10 days.
But none of refrigeraterators had ice makers. But they were 10 cu ft and all electric
Some made a big deal about solar panels installed . But really did not take full advantage. One did add in a 1800 watt inverter to help run something while in tow...fridge was 12volt.
One gave you 2 deep cycle and one only gave you one.
One had a strange layout in bathroom, that put toilet angled next to shower.. which blocked full access to shower.
Small microwave, small oven but great cooktop...you csnt cook outside every meal
I am spoiled .
I have ge advantium convection oven, nice stove and full size french door refer, with ice maker..and 4k lbs of cargo space.
But we want to go back to our early days and slim down camper.
I bet truck would get close to same mpg.
But not 700 miles range.
We shall see.
We did see 2 with cargo cap of 1600 to 1900 lbs. All units had 4400 lb axles. But one used 65 psi tires and one used 80 psi tires.
My advice is go see as many and can, sit, stretch out. Walk through making meals, sleep, etc..fund what fits your wants

I would like to add, I wasn't looking to do a. Review, but a few things stick in my craw and maybe it helps a person
The alliance delta which is a pretty well thought out unit. No carpets, no in floor heat ducts to get full of dirt , pet hair etc
So they routed gas fired furnace heat through aluminized flexible dryer vent hoses. You know the 5 dollar ones.
They start under sink from furnace hanging on each other looking like a spaghetti pile . As they head off to under cabinet vents etc.
I was thinking.. in a few hundred miles those duct hoses will wear a hole on each other and you are going to have one heck of a hot spot under the sink , next wires, the on-demand water Hester etc.
They spent energy putting a pretty good rig together for the price, and then half assed the heater ducts hoses
The pics are not the best, but they hint at the hose spaghetti
The top one you can see the 120 volt wire drapped across thar vent..both units had the same issue
