I installed an underhood LED light bar.
Took all of 15 minutes with the fuse tap.

Damnit… adding this to my list. Actually one of the better mods I’ve seen. As my wife said, it’s like KITT but in a tremor.

Care to share more details? Which fuse did you use? Is it 1:1 with the DRL or head lights in term of on/off? Where do you buy the LED strip?

The wire is pretty small, so I just cut both ends, twisted together and covered with electrical tape and heat shrink.

I also used fuse 21 (I had 5 10a fuses in a row and then a 20a, so it was easy to spot:

You mount the light with the included adhesive (making sure not to mount upside down and to clear thoroughly with alcohol wipe to get a good stick). Tap into the ground (there is an 8mm bolt by the battery) and run the hot wire to the fuse tap. The 4 pack linked came with an extra set of fuses. Just make sure car is running (I tried to test the lights and like an idiot realized they didn't come on until I actually started the truck; they wouldn't come on if I just turned on the headlights with the engine off).

Glad with how it came out and it was only like $35.

There's that much room back there?

I have not looked behind the driver's seat to see how much room is available. It has been reported if the truck is a PowerBoost, there is not a lot of room. I have the EcoBoost and looking through the side of the driver's rear seat, there appears to be plenty of room for what I want to put there.

My tow strap and jumper cables are in canvas storage bags that allow the cables and tow strap to store in the upright position. That significantly affected how much I could store behind my rear passenger seat.

I love those bags! All my Tig gear, cables, hoses and torches are in these. So very handy!

Nice day in the northeast today. I cut in my bed lights into my Bedrug. I elected not to cut in the switch. I feel this is unnecessary. I stuck a 3/4" ø x 1/4" hard carpet slider pad thingy on the button. This makes the button proud of the bed wall vs flush. I can feel this bump through the Bedrug. For sh¡ts and giggles I put a quarter over the button. If I leave this marker I might upgrade it to a half dollar or get a challenge coin from Amazon. There are tons of designs to choose from. Challenge coins are just a bit larger than a half dollar. Usually about 1.57". Nothing at all would look good too.

Edit: since I can feel the bump I've decided to not use any marker for the switch. It's a nice clean look.

What did you mean by that? The neon strip has adhesive on the bottom and the light is on the top.

When I did the dry fit, I didn’t notice I had it upside down. There is adhesive on both sides (top and bottom), so I stupidly had it facing inwards into the engine bay and not outwards.

Interesting. My linex franchise did not coat underneath the tailgate insert. I wish they had.

The place that did the Bullet liner in mine didn't either. I wish I would have complained but too late now.
