There's a different set I saw later that I like better that are more corner cut like the styling throughout the truck.

Based on hundreds of pages of horror stories about Ford dealer service department competencies (especially re OTA updates and anything software), I invested in Forscan and FDRS software and hardware to do all that myself too. So, yeah, I'm avoiding any and all trips to the dealer as long as possible.

The high and mighty 'tude comes through a little too thick, admittedly, but too many stories of wrong oil, not enough oil, budget oil, cheap oil filters, stripped drain bolts, silly felt covers not being tightened down and coming loose on the freeway, etc etc has me sleeping better at night if I just do it all myself, even oil changes. I went with my girlfriend to the local Jiffy Lube recently and, yeah, I'm not letting those guys touch my rig. Above all, like with my fleet of motorcycles, I love doing the work myself. Those high school kids need the experience somewhere, and maybe some of them are "detail enthusiasts" like me, but not worth the gamble. For me.

The whole point of my post was to educate someone else at the final financing/signing table at the dealership agonizing on whether to buy the "maintenance package" because they don't know about the Magnuson-Moss Act. You can do the work yourself and Ford cannot deny a future warranty claim if you keep adequate records. My dealer was cool and transferred the $200 maintenance package (for 2 years of oil changes) into the 36 quarts and 6 filters through their Parts desk.
My stepson works at a dealer lube shop out here and while he is very qualified (not that I'm biased ;) ) the stories he tells me convinces me you made a solid choice doing it yourself. Also, the team in the lube depts are not the techs working on our trucks for warranty work. Without making any judgement about how qualified the actual techs are (or aren't) they have actual training and a completely different skill set.

All of that being said, the pains I've had with my local dealer trying to get warranty work done successfully on my Powerboost makes me wonder if I'm better off in the long run learning how to be a Ford tech myself. Ha.

Changed the oil, engine & cabin filters, and rotated the tires. The factory oil filter was a real PITA to get off, not much room to work with the extra Powerboost hoses there, and it was extremely tight. Also realized I need a better/different oil drain pan. Current one was fairly full, and I accidently kicked it when getting the oil filter off making a mess, then had issues getting the oil out of it. Either way, I'm ready for the next 10k miles now.

Installed the Ford mud flaps, Ford wheel well liners, and Ford β€œguards” to get rid of whatever the hell those ugly wind/rock fins were. I know I need a wash don’t badger me! πŸ˜‚

I've been wondering about this recently. I'm at 1,242 miles and still have 93% oil life. That gives me around 17,700 miles before my first change. Seems crazy high, but I'm figuring a PB truck will go a lot longer between changes due to the electric miles. Has anybody else seen crazy high oil life on a PB?

Did its first oil change at 3k miles. My first new vehicle and, just like every other vehicle before it, no way I'm letting some $11/hr high school kid in a dealership or Jiffy Lube touch it, so after learning about the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, bought 36 quarts of Motorcraft oil and 6 Motorcraft filters, which should get me through the warranty period. Entered an "Owner's Entry" under Maintenance in FordPass and took some pics and filed my parts receipt as proof. Oil/filter change took me 20 minutes. We have 3 Ford dealers nearby and all 3 have "Quick Lane" oil change bays which were booking oil change appointments 4-5 weeks out and even with an appointment they said 90-120 minute wait. No thanks :ROFLMAO:

After seeing this I’m glad I’ve always changed my own oil too.

Hello,
Sorry for the crooked photos. I'm still learning how to use a MacBook. Anyways I changed out the blue Ford emblem for a black one, front and back. Then I removed the STX stickers with a blow dryer. Finally I replaced the fender badge with a custom American flag one.
