What determines production at either Dearborn or Kansas City?

I ordered a Reg Cab\Short bed XLT Anti-blue with the 301A package and all the options I could get from the 302A package (N\A in Reg Cab) I could get.

LOTS of "chips"!

I was assigned to Kansas City.

Mine is an 5.0 XLT 302A, tow pack, Carbonized Grey, screw short bed and it is being built in Dearborn towards the end of May(maybe???).

Mine is lead foot 4x2, xlt 302a 5.0, max tow and mined in KC

Also, as far as I know:

powerboost are only done in Dearborn

space white paint is only done in KC

(Hence we can't configure a space White PowerBoost)

I was told this by the dealer I ordered with. PB in Dearborn, most higher trims in Dearborn, Space White only in KC (which is where the Mach-E is done I believe).

They told me that’s exactly why I can’t get a PowerBoost in space white

I'm probably going to miss some things and this model year is seeing some changes that normally don't happen but generally speaking Dearborn usually does mostly Lariat, Platinum, KR and Limited while KC typically does XL, XLT and Fleet trucks. Pretty sure KC has had to help out Dearborn more than once to build some of the other trims this model year.

2018 XLT from Dearborn and 2021 in production at Dearborn. I have Diesel engine and I don't know if KC does the diesel.

I asked the question for my knowledge with the closings due to COVID I was curious. To answer your question to some it may not matter what plant the truck is built , for me it was just identifying why some were built at one plant vs the other.
