I see ... so are these come standard with most trucks or are the mounting plates supposed to come with the cleats? Because my truck came with the plates but not the cleats in it...

The Boxlink plates are only standard on Lariat and above. However, if you have the plates, then cleats should have been included.

The tire kit (jack, tire wrench, lowering tool) should be behind (not below) the 40% rear seat (passenger side). If it’s missing, check with your dealer.

Because I’ve never checked, I decided to go make sure that my tire change kit isn’t missing. The wrench should be wrapped in grey felt material and strapped to the jack as circled in the photo. It would be really strange if this is missing from your truck.

While you are at it, if you have the trailer tow package, there should be a bag with a cable, some boxes and twist ties ... it is the sensor to mount on your trailer. If you are missing all that other stuff, I wouldn't be surprised if that's gone too.

Good luck.

The box link cleats are an option.
pretty sure the plates are on all trims.
my 301 XLT had the plates and I bought the cleats
all the trucks I have seen had the plates even if the box link option was not on the sticker

I was just going by Ford’s website; It shows the plates as an option.

The mounting plates were on the truck.
I had the dealer install the cleats.

I have read where the plates will also accept “E” track clips. But, they are not a snug fit.

Yes, the eTrack clips work great. They do wiggle a bit when they are inserted, but they are mechanically sound. There are dozens of eTrack clip options. Just do an internet search.

I find the BoxLink clips provided by Ford to be a little too bulky - and, I still haven't been able to insert them because the tolerances are too tight. It appears I will have to dremel them down a bit to fit into the slot.

(By the way, this picture is of the clips at the back end of the truck bed, near the tailgate. The black channel descending downward to the truck bed is the latch mechanism for my SwingBox.)
