What’s the biggest tow behind camper you would pull with your F150?

So can you turn the ProPower off as default with Forscan or something? Seems like a waste to have that thing run all the time.

Most F150's have a 400w inverter in them. The hybrid's stays in a low power mode when the truck is on, you must switch it into high-power mode. I'd wager it's more efficient idling / creating power than any other version as it's stepping down voltage, not increasing it.

Not sure of your question. Pro Power only runs when you want it to run.

I can put a clamp meter on it but I really doubt it's going to show anything. It doesn't show up in forscan as having anything to monitor. Hell there's only 3.75% loss on the DC/DC putting out 1.29kW stepping 268.7v down to 14.53v (Though with higher HV voltage, it seems to increase to as high as 9.1%)

Bit lengthy but these were are experiences, we did get a smaller microwave. It does struggle with our 5th wheel larger microwave.

Hey, I've seen that vid before. Nice rig!

It'd be nice if the PB's inverters had a surge rating on them, but alas, you can have all of its 7.5x kW of generation and that's it.

Actually i find it really annoying when it is running as the fan is ALWAYS running unless you turn it off manually. I wish there was forscan to turn it off as i never really use it.

For those looking at the 2kw Gas version, dont bother, its probably just smarter to save the payload and carry a battery back like the ANKER. I bet you the weight of the inverter, the batteries and alternator is about 100lbs which shoudl cover a portable pack that can power an AC.

THe only thing i regret on my truck is the propower and waste of payload compared to carrying an ANKER or something like that.

Those are powerboost guys conversing -- the only inverters the powerboosts have are under the truck and are water cooled.

Alternator, 2 7ah batts, and the inverter unit itself plus a few pounds of copper. Wouldn't be surprised to hear it's ~42lbs or so.

It may not change minds but a lot of folks might benefit from understanding SAE J2807 (the testing scheme that plays a big role in manufacturer tow ratings) and how the different components of that test procedure do or do not relate to their own towing situations.

To that end, IMO this Motor Trend article is worth a read: SAE J2807 Tow Tests - The Standard (though published in 2015 the article describes the standard that is now, with minor revisions, uniformly used by all manufacturers)

I don't suggest that values derived from J2807 are the be-all / end-all for guidance, but it does consider a lot of factors that many might not think about (but probably should), and it does provide a fair degree of comparability when considering the capabilities of different vehicles (both within a given manufacturer's lineup and between different manufacturers).
