I’ve been going down rabbit holes of tonneau cover reviews, and decided to give the WeatherTech AlloyCover (rebranded Lomax) a try. The DiamondBack SE, Bakflip X4s, and Bakflip MX4 were close seconds. The X4s seems out of stock everywhere, and I’m concerned that baddies may try cutting first before realizing there is metal beneath the vinyl. Also, the AlloyCover has a quick release for complete removal versus the hand-tightened knobs on the MX4. The DiamondBack SE can’t be removed easily. A bonus is that WeatherTech is local, and will make it right if something goes wrong.

Who else has been using the AlloyCover?

I don’t have the WeatherTech but do use the actual Lomax and like it so far. The quick removal is key for me as well.

Looks great! So if I understand this correctly once installed you can easily remove just the panels? This might be just the ticket for me. I was looking at the X4s but rolled up it occupies about 8" I need 5' inside the bed a few times a year and putting it on and off needs to be simple

Yeah, there is a second release string that unlatches the panels at the bulkhead, and it lifts away.

I have the WeatherTech AlloyCover too. I purchased it a few years back for my '18 Lariat and it fits my '21 Lariat as well.

I love it. Very easy to install and remove if I need that extra bed room. It's very reliable and dependable. Never leaks and closes tightly every time.

I highly recommend it and I'm seriously leaning towards getting another one for my '22 Limited when it arrives.

Seals perfectly. No issues for me at all. I never have water in my bed. Ever!
I really think that it's like the hidden gem on Tonneau covers. They're under the radar and no one really talks about them, but they're really damn good.
I'll post pics of mine in a few.

No problem at all. Like I said, I highly recommend it.
Good luck and if you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

I have a question about this tonneau cover. You stated "second release string that unlatches the panels at the bulkhead". Is that to remove the tonneau cover from the truck or open it from the front?

Thanks
Cindy

I can answer that. Yes, there is a second release string near the front of the bed and under the cover that releases the lock so that you can remove the cover from the truck.

Does your cover have the bare aluminum on the sides? This is what I've been looking for but if there's still bare metal on the sides I'd want to paint it black before installing.
