That's the sound of straight cut gears, my Honda ST1100 had them for the cam drive and it was pretty annoying at first.

Pretty certain that they F'd with the sound to make it more 'rock and roll' because it certainly would be drowned out by all those open exhaust race cars. And why would it sound like a crotch rocket hitting the rev limiter in neutral before it starts to pass the NASCAR Cup Car? Really though, it's about as cool as placing a playing card against the spokes of your beach cruiser to make it sound like a motorcycle.

You can forgive the sound editors having Steve McQueen upshift eight times in a row during the car chase in Bullitt but the revving dental drill sound in the above video is retarded.

The production version of the Mach-E sounds nothing like that. Picked up my wife's about a month ago and overall it's a fantastic car. You can gripe about the name if you want, but that doesn't change the ratio of what you get for what you spend, and it's a fantastic buy for a daily commuter. I'm not patient enough to spend time at the chargers for road trips, but having an around town car that you never have to stop at a gas station with because it tops off every night at home is really nice.

I am sure it is a great car, again I think the car itself has great qualities. Just not what I envision when I am told it is a Mustang.

Haha yes. Not really a mustang. Sounds like an r/c car. I’m sure this one specifically would be fun to drive.

I have always wanted a classic Mustang, late 60s and definitely not a fan of them using the Mustang label on this new vehicle that looks more like a cross over than sporty car.

I have both, and have no problem with them calling it a mustang. If your definition of a mustang is a 2 door sports car then you will hate the name. If your definition of a mustang is vehicle designed to make elements of niche vehicles (sports cars in 1960s and EVs in 2020s) obtainable and more mainstream, then you will be okay with the name.

Anyone bitching about the Mach-E being called a Mustang needs to remember the Mustang II. The 74 model still somehow outsold the 73 and I think they made a million of them during the 70's.

That John Holmes lookalike isn't putting on those gloves to drive the car, it's to fist the new owner if they ask about 0-60 or 1/4 mile times.

It is the same people that think the Dodge Charger should be a 2 door. If it was, I would not have it..

Wife and I took a test drive in a Mach-e this weekend and both really enjoyed the car (even though it was a base "select" trim - all the dealer had). Put in an order for a Mach-e GT for her.

Now I just need to get over that her Mustang will be faster than my Shelby GT350! May have to drive it a bunch once she gets it to make sure.
