I just got upgraded wheels and tires on my 2021 Ford F-150 XLT. I’m currently running 22x12 -44 on a 305/45/22 Nitto420v. My issue with these wheels are that around 90 kmh my steering wheel begins to shake slightly and increases as I get faster, however once I’m in the 110kmh it decreases. I haven’t gone faster than that so I don’t know how bad it is but I’m sure it’s most likely cuz of the size and weight of the upgraded wheels. I got all the work including levelled and alignment done from a well reputable shop so I’m not to concerned with the wheels not being balanced properly but you never know. The wheels I’m running have a CB of 106.7 but I’m using hubcentric rings so I don’t think that’s the problem either. My truck has been driven 80k km before I even put the wheels on and got them retorqued today. Any solution for this problem?

*For anyone that's having similar problems, make sure to get your wheel's rebalanced. That seemed to do the trick for me!!

Try some different wheels and tires to see if it still does it.

Swap the fronts and backs and see if that helps or at least moves the shaking.

There’s been some threads on that after market wheels don’t have the correct center hole size. This making wheels not centered on hub. Could be bad wheel balance too.

Check to make sure the lug nuts are not hitting the top of the stub before against the rim. My son put new, non OEM, lug nuts on his truck and had shimmy starting about 50 mph. Found the lug nuts were 1/16 of an inch shorter than OEM.

It seems like you're dealing with a classic case of wheel balance issues.
Even with reputable shops, balancing can sometimes be off.

First thing I'd do is get those wheels rebalanced, just to be sure.

Another thing to check is if the hubcentric rings are seated properly.
Sometimes a small misalignment can cause shaking at certain speeds.

If that doesn't help, it might be worth getting your suspension components checked out, just in case something got knocked out of whack with the new setup.

What do you mean by this I don’t really understand. Are you trying to say check lug nuts to see if there fully on stud?

Thanks for your suggestion, I’m curious have you done this before? How exactly does this work?

It’s like rotating your tires. Take the fronts and move to back and backs to the front. If you have an unbalanced front tire, or a defect like a bad belt, the vibration in the steering wheel will go away or be greatly reduced. That will narrow down it down to just two tires.

you were correct my friend, I took it back to the shop to get rebalanced and now the problem is gone and ride is back to normal!
