Are vibration issues really that much of a problem with these 14th Gen. trucks? I drove two last week and they both had a mild shake at speeds over 55-60 MPH. I ended up buying the one that had the lesser of the shakes but I told the dealer they needed to fix it before I would take delivery. The truck is a 4x2 Supercrew with the 5.0 and 3:31 locking rearend. Should I just tell them to road force balance, the tires and leave it at that or what. Tried to get them to upgrade me to a set of Michelin Defenders but they aren’t interested. By the way it has the upgraded 20” wheels with crappy Goodyear tires.

Vibrations at highway speeds don't seem to be a major issue, but it isn't an uncommon complaint either. My truck is perfectly smooth all the way up to the speed limiter, but I do notice that my truck is more sensitive to road imperfections than most of the vehicles I have driven and it can be a bit annoying to drive on older, poorly maintained highways.

I've noticed bad roads more with this truck than my last. I just assume it's because of the 20's having thinner tires. No weird vibrations though.

I don’t have any vibration issues of the sort you’ve described, even with off-road oriented tires. The only vibration issue I’ve had is throttle related, and has resolved itself over time. I do get a lot of rear wheel hop on rough surfaces if the truck isn’t weighted down, which I expected, particularly with the 2.7 and lighter duty components.

FYI: early warning, I have it real bad, so I am biasly bitter on this topic

Id hate to be that guy, but personally Id walk away on both trucks. The dealer most likely won't do anything, even if you ask for road force balance odds are they might do a normal balance. You'll spend days, weeks, months going to the dealership back and forth of them just saying "can't reproduce" or "its a truck, they shake".

Take a look over this thread, there are others too. Good number of us have or about to get rid of our trucks over the vibration issues. :(

I have had my truck 6 days, picked it up last Sunday. Wednesday was the first time i've driven it at highways speeds, drove about an hour up the interstate each way to an appointment out of town. Pretty noticeable vibration between 70 and 80. I normally set the cruise at 78 when the speed limit is 70, but pushed it up to 80 and the vibration lessened considerably.

I'm bringing the truck in for a couple issues next week and i'm going to have them balance it. It's also pulling to the right, so i'm going to have them do an alignment.

6 days old and under 300 miles on it, shouldn't be like this...

I have 18's and Michelin's for what it's worth.

Hi there! If you send over a DM with your VIN and Ford dealer info, I can look into your concerns on my end.

Sorta sad when you have to pick the lessor of the evils, sorry to hear that. As a matter of fact, I've been dealing with the very same recently. Under normal acceleration, not spirited or Sport mode, just normal, as I approach speed at 55/60 there is vibration that is producing a drumming, throbbing, harmonic in the cab - it's deafening.

I've checked the driveline angles and they are .7 opposing each other, sitting in my driveway. That means the output shaft->drive shaft->rear pinion are almost perfectly straight.

In my case, I'm wondering about axle wrap, but that's usually at takeoff not cruising speed. Under power, cruising at 55/60 MPH it could twist the rear "leaf" spring (yes I only have one and a "overload") which in turn twists or points the rear pinion upward causing the output shaft and pinion to be out of phase now = vibration.

Another hunch is I have a CC short bed and they come with a single aluminum driveshaft. I wonder if at 55/60 MPH the thing starts to have the jump rope effect...... I don't know if I could see such a thing, but I plan to put my GoPro under my truck to see if I can, that and point it at the pinion and see what it's doing at 55/60 MPH.

Well thanks for the replies guys. They delivered my truck today and thankfully it had no vibrations.

I have the same issue and it starts at around 83mph. ‘21 5.0L 3.73, 39000 miles. Been doing it for some time. General grabbers, LT265/70/18’s. I’m tired of it and I’m taking it in for a force balance and front alignment check at Discount Tire Store. Start with that and see what happens. It’s like a harmonic vibration I can feel in the wheel.

Just had all four tires road forced balance today at Discount Tire. Heading out tomorrow to the cabin for a long weekend. The tech said all four were out of balance and set the tire pressure at 35 lbs. Will let you know if this helps the vibration issue.

I had the same problem. 3 Sets of tires, new driveshaft and adjusted pinion angles and its better than it was but its still there. Both my dealer and the Ford Engineer and Rep said its the same as all the rest.

My vibration story, still on going. 2023 scsb 5.0 2wd now at 2500k miles on her. 1k with a ride tech 3/5 lowering kit. Kick myself in the butt since I did rear drop shackles as soon as I got the truck home from the dealership at 100 miles. Had a shake but thought it was pinion angle related so I knew I was going to order a lowering kit so I’d address it then. Fast forward to 1500 miles later. 2 sets of new wheels/tires rebalanced multiple times, new driveline 1 alum drive shaft (helped a little), 4 wheel alignment done and still fighting weird humming at 60-75mph and other vibration at all different speeds. Spend 3 weeks working with ridetech to get a perfect pinion angle setup which I thought was the issue. Again , did help a little, Long story short, it’s still unenjoyable to drive unless you drive under 50 mph, if you want a back massage this trucks for you. At the point i believe the rear end (bad cut rear gears, e locker, or outside axle bearing since there seems to be a lot of up and down play) or the trans itself causing some imbalance issues which I doubt or cab mounts or other frame to can related connections. Not sure if it’s a rwd things or 4wd guys have it to. But it sucks not knowing what to fix.
