I'm not familiar with why the current Raptor has a EcoBoost V6 instead of a V8. Was the 2017 GT350's V8 Voodoo engine deemed inadequate or inappropriate for the 2017 Raptor at the time for some reason?

But now that we have the much more powerful and torquier 2020 GT500's V8 Predator to borrow from, hopefully there's a better chance of getting a V8 Raptor for the 14th gen?? ?

Both the GT350 and the Gt500 engines are built in small numbers on the niche line and are not really meant to be mass produced. The Ecoboost 3.5 engine Ford puts in almost everything so you have the economy of scale making it cheaper for Ford to build.

If one of these engines would happen to find it’s way under the hood of the Raptor from the factory, it’ll definitely be the engine from the GT500 because the engine in the GT350 is made for “high” RPM horsepower and a much lighter vehicle.

Agreed. The GT500 V8 engine's extra 200 lb-ft of torque (625 lb-ft on GT500 vs 429 lb-ft on GT350) will be a world of difference on the F150.

I just hope it actually happens!

Sadly, I’m with you on this but man, it would be nice and it would definitely be expensive.

However, I really don’t think it’s needed.

The 5.0 with it’s own supercharger would be perfect and Hennessy has already shown that it can be done.

Personally I hope they supercharge the 7.3 "Godzilla" engine. They've gotta have SOMETHING to compete with the 717HP TRX that's coming out, right? And what better than a truck engine for a truck?

Not gonna happen nor is it needed.
The Raptor is a balanced package and it doesn’t need 700 HP.

Typical FCA using high HP to cover up it’s shortcomings.

I'm curious, as I'm cross-shopping the TRX and the Raptor. What do you consider to be Ram's shortcomings?

Old engine tech, vehicle weight,

Ask yourself this, would you really be interested in the TRX if it didn’t have that huge, and heavy engine.

Do you remember the Dodge truck with the Viper V10 engine from over a decade ago?

Same concept and a failure for Chrysler.
