After reading another thread here, I thought it could be helpful to others to briefly describe how to use the on-board scales beyond what is shown in the Ford promotional video. The images below are from my 2022 F150 Platinum, so there may have been changes to later model years.

Enter the Onboard Scale screen by selecting the Features on the center display and then press the Onboard Scales buttons.

This will take you to the primary and default onboard scales screen. This display provides an estimate of how close the current payload is to the payload limit. As you load more stuff into you truck, you will see the scale or bar fill and change colors as you get closer to the limit. The payload for my truck is 1336 lbs as noted on the door frame sticker and shown at the top of the scale.

Select the menu icon location in the top right of the screen to open the onboard scales menu.

From the onboard scales menu, select Scale Mode. This should display the payload weight on a scale with numbers.

I use the Reset Scale to Zero button prior to attaching a trailer or loading items into the truck, so the scale will display the weight I have added. This allows you to see how much weight you have added after zeroing the scale. The scale in the image above shows a little over 100 lbs of cargo.

I haven't done any formal testing to verify the accuracy of the scales, but I have found it to be reasonably accurate. Prior to loading the truck for a camping trip, I zeroed the scale then weighed every item I placed in the truck using our bathroom scale. I loaded in about 500 lbs and the scaled showed around 500 lbs as well. As the message on the screen notes, the scale is "Not for commercial use", so it isn't intended to be commercial-grade accurate, but I do find useful. When I do more testing in the future, I will update this thread.

This is one of the better videos I have found regarding the Onboard Scale features.

Excellent post!
Both your content and the linked video. I had never seen that one before.

Thanks

Why the huge bar from.-50 to 275lbs shown? Why not just a bar at the 100 mark.
Are you supposed to average between those numbers?
Or am I missing something?
Or just bad graphics?
