My Sales manager told me one of the reasons I wasn't getting picked up for scheduling was due to color. I have this unscientific poll that I would like to run for anyone that has a Smoked Quartz paint color F-150, on any trim.

Thanks!!

Could be any number of reasons really... You're just under 2 months, enjoy the wait..

I'm not complaining, by any means :) Just trying to be analytical about it.

I don't see many Smoke Quartz folks kicking around and I've seen a bunch of "newer" orders fly through the system. I also understand that only a fraction of people who ordered are on the forums. So, I guess it helps pass the time!

Thx!

I can't edit but the poll was more for fun (curious) and either there aren't that many outstanding SQ orders or people aren't responding :).

All good! I feel you, I've been waiting back to November, everyday I look for some reason why it's not being scheduled/built.

One day before the tax man gets me I may have a new truck...

I don't know if I could bear it that long! I mean, I know I have to strap in and expect the worst, but I'm definitely hoping for an end of June delivery... #WishfulThinking

If you go to the main order list on this site and do some observation it looks like every 2-3 months a flush of smoked quartz is run. (just based on published estimated build dates. Once you have been waiting several months you will start doing things like this in a desperate attempt not to take your own life.)

Given the videos ford makes where they show a big vat of paint for the parts to be dipped through all this makes sense. I can't imagine that filling a vat of paint and having it sit for the occasional truck to run through is a wise use of assembly line space if they can easily take and store the paint for months at a time without solvent evaporating and setting. I Imagine they let orders stack up and do a few extra for future orders. I assume this is why I have seen a couple SQ Platinum 6.5 jump the platinum Q by several months while I have been waiting for 8 months. They probably made a few extra 6.5 beds and had them laying in their storage while us 5.5 guys had to wait. All this is just conjecture though.

My wife hates it if I leave the lid of the paint can for a few minutes after filling a paint tray.:ROFLMAO:

Everything these days is water based paint.

Ok fair enough. Still bet they have the line set up to only paint smoked quartz once in a while. If you tour the factory they point out the building where the painted doors and body panels are stored till called for on blend date. It isn't very big at least on the outside.

Maybe it’s like Dr. Who’s Tardis?
