contact Grainger (you can find them in this subforum with instructions) and they'll give you an invoice of 4% under. Use that invoice to barter locally. Thats what I did, had my truck negotiated and ordered and out the door in like half an hour, just waiting for my build date.

^^^ THIS!! ^^^

I got a quote from Granger for 4% under invoice and used it to negotiate my 2024 King Ranch thru my local dealer. I didn't quite get the full 4%, but I saved the cost and time of travel to Iowa, and got all my tax/tag issues handled thru the dealer with no added dealer "fluff". Plus, I established a great relationship with my dealer for future needs.

I did go thru Granger for my extended service/warranty plan (Ford Protect Premium Care), which I think is a "must" given the tech in this truck. Granger had the best price I could find anywhere. There are several threads on this forum with details about it.

I was looking for a RCSB, asked about a 2023, they wanted 46k. I told them I can get a 2025 for cheaper, showed him the email and manager came to review it and told me they'd price match the 4% under. I'm from Wisconsin so Granger isn't a far drive and would of been a viable option but lemon law issues and this dealership was 15 minutes away.
My savings weren't massive but I also got the cheapest 4wd truck available and the percentage off was decent. Granger has advertised the best prices I have also seen as well.

I just realized my original comment I misspelt Granger and the guy I emailed was Chip.
I say just find the best rated dealers around you and hop around until you find someone willing to match, mine happened to be the first attempt and I'm just a young guy who's never even been inside a dealership before so I still have 0 bartering experience.

I live in the PNW and went through granger and worked with chip. It was a great process and everything was exactly as they described it. No gimmicks, no sitting for two hours in some sales office getting beat over the head to buy this or that add on. Just, in my opinion, an honest transaction.

No dealers in my area would come close to Chips price.

I flew in late, stayed at a hotel nearby, and picked the truck in the morning and started my long drive home.

I like road trips though.

if Ford built a better truck, I would order my next truck through Granger too, but I think this will be my last ford, sadly.

My experience with Granger hasn’t been good. My new truck that I purchased from them has been sitting at a body shop for the past 6 weeks and still isn’t complete. The paint was flawed from the factory and they didn’t seem to care. The passenger side front seat was also damaged and they tried to blame the transport company. The bottom seat cushion and cover had to be replaced because of a defect that left a large gap in the seat. The top portion had peeling leather and Ford wouldn’t cover it. Granger ended up paying for the top portion, but it wasn’t an easy process. You can find my detailed post about it on here if you’re interested in reading it. I’ve been paying for a truck that I don’t have and a rental car for the past 6 weeks. Ford told me that I can submit to be reimbursed for the rental after I get my truck back, but the process would take about 7-10 business days and they’d send me a prepaid debit card if the claim is approved. The rental is over $2k already on top of two months of payments.

Just a note to anyone traveling anywhere to buy a vehicle. Go there and inspect the vehicle before you take ownership. Then how you get it home is up to you but at least you inspected it before the deal was finalized.

Don’t trust the dealership to inspect the vehicle. On top of all of the paint issues, mine had a bolt laying in the bed of the truck and a bolt hanging on by a few threads for the rock guard in the wheel well.
When I told the GM about the bolt in the bed of the truck he made a smartass comment about the body shop figuring out where it goes when they do the paint work.

Even though it was right around 1,600 miles driving home, I would go through Grainer again rather than trying to use them to squeeze a deal out of the local dealers. Maybe some of you do have dealers willing to work with you, but the ones I dealt with would only come within 4K of what Chip offered. Hassle free, in and out in 20 minutes, and leisurely drive back.

The "dealer invoice" is not what a dealer actually pays for a vehicle. Based on total units sold during the year they receive credits that lower their cost for the vehicles they bought during that period. Additional units sold helps to increase the discounts for every vehicle sold during the period.

If negotiating I offer to pay the dealer invoice less $2,000 as a starting point. Once we agree on a "price" for the vehicle I start asking for add-ons that cost the dealer very little as compared to losing the sale.

Dealers also pay flooring fees that are quite high and so they are eager to move a vehicle that has sat on their lot for more than 30 days. This also makes them more interested in avoiding the next months fee as the day they enter a new month the monthly fee kicks in. I try to go to the dealer the last 2 days of the month and as late in the day as possible to put more pressure on the sales manager.
