Trailer brake recall

Well my truck now has been at the dealership for 3 weeks it sat for 2 weeks waiting on parts for the axle and now thats complete they are trying to program the brake controller with the new update but is not working and has taken almost another week. So if your brake controller is working fine don’t get the update.

Got mine done, dropped of on a Wednesday night, picked it up Friday after work. Haven’t had to tow yet, but they claimed it’s been updated.

tbc recall is just a reflash, took my dealer about a blink of an eye and it was done.
maybe the tech is having a connectivity issue.
unless your tbc is broken and requires a physical part, the recall is pretty basic programming of truck .
i would inquire what the issue is holding it up? but flies like sugar more than vinegar

Sounds like it might be a power issue with the modular so I guess they were going to possibly put a new battery into it and see if they can get it to connect and download.

I updated mine myself with FDRS with no issues. Good luck.

To me, if they're telling you it's a power issue, it's just another dealership tech failing to read the prompts in FDRS and attempting to perform programming without a battery charger hooked up.

They told me that they have tried charging the battery to a full charge and it is still giving them that code so not sure what they are going to do

I'd find another dealer because the one your going to obviously doesn't know what they're doing. The charger is also supposed to be left on the entire time the procedure is in progress. You don't charge the battery and unhook the charger then try.

Well to update you the dealership called at 4pm to tell me that my truck was ready and got the keys and got into it and drove home once I got on and turned the truck off the radio said system turning off to save battery so now no light will turn on until the truck is turned on. Will be call them in the morning and most likely finding a new one to take it too

Take it a 100 mile ride.
Battery will charge up.
I run mine down daily just sittin in the truck (like I am now) listening to the radio.
Battery stays low enough on my commutes the auto start/stop won’t work.
Go on a longer ride, battery charges, and everything works.

It's worse than you thought.
The OP picks his truck up and it's in a low charge state. Go figure.

What is it that is so difficult for a certified professional technician to perform a simple software update following the factory designed procedures?

These trucks deserve a better reputation than the one the dealerships are giving them.

OP, if you check out the OTA subforum, someone there could look up your VIN in FDRS and/or PTS and see what exactly the dealer did to screw up so badly. All FDRS actions are logged, so the dealership and techs incompetence is recorded.

So after driving the truck to work this morning everything is working like it supposed to so will see what happens and update
