I have a 22 Lariat 501a with the 5.0 V8 in Carbonized Grey. Should I trade it in for a 23 Lariat 502a PB BAP? I rarely tow and do more city driving.

Why? If the 5.0 has been reliable, there is no way you will make up the depreciation hit/price increase in mpg saving.

FYI I’m just playing devil’s advocate. if you have the cash, you should follow your heart.

What kind of MPG are you getting now?

I would never give up my Red Light 5.0 Hole Shot for a PB but IF you do it... please let us know how it works out for you.

BTW... I don't drive a Full Size 4x4 for "gas mileage" so...

The PB with a tune on 93 is putting down nearly 500hp and 600tq to the wheels w/ 3.73s standard pulling off mid 4 second 0-60. Then of course it's got a 7.4kw generator built in as well. The only thing the 5.0 has going for it is its exhaust note -- I can't even hear the PB's. 3.5 just doesn't have an exhaust note worth amplifying.

It's up to you if it makes financial sense. I'd argue with ease the PB is the best F150 produced yet. 501 to 502 is a pretty decent upgrade as well. Would you be ordering it, or do you have one picked out?

Hakka man is spot on

If you do real city driving with stop and go, rush hour traffic, the mpg is crazy good. Like 25+ and a non hybrid would do low teens

I am trading my 2023 PB for a 2023 5.0L.

The PB has more power, a generator and will average about 2-3 more mpg in mixed conditions for me. I do not like the transition from electric to gas and the momentary hesitation to and from, especially at a stop.

I personally love my 5.0. Everything I need in terms of power delivery and sound.

That said, I do like the idea of the Powerboost and potentially will find myself in one down the road but not anytime soon. I feel Ford needs to work out the kinks and perfect the product first.

If the engine isn't a deal breaker for you, then in my opinion it's a no brainer. The 502a will be a completely different truck than a 501a.

I appreciate the devil’s advocate approach, that is what I’m looking for. My 5.0 has been flawless since I purchased it in March of 2022. The trade-in difference will be a huge part of if I do this or not. I ordered the 23 PB BAP in avalanche grey.

Ordered the 23 PB. It arrived at the dealership yesterday so the clock is ticking on making the decision.

17.5 all around but I’m leveled on 34’s so some of that my fault 🤣
Well that’s important
If you’re going to level and upsize the tire or even go to a real AT powerboost will not be effective in increasing mpg. That tire decision goes with the motor imo
