Toyo released their latest tire a couple of months ago, the Toyo Open Country RT Trail. I ordered them in the stock size 275/60r20 on 12/24 from 4 Wheel Parts and picked them up from their store on 12/26. Just got them installed yesterday and they look and perform amazing! Here’s a few things I have noted since getting these tires:

- Road Noise - you can definitely hear them compared to the stock Pirelli Scorpion ATR’s but they are definitely quiet for how aggressive they are. I would say they are on par with the Ridge Grapplers (had them on my previous F-150) in terms of road noise and can easily be drowned out by turning up the radio a bit.
- Weight - this is one of the biggest factors that determined why I got these tires since I did not want to kill my MPG’s nor my acceleration. They are very light (this size is in an SL rating) at 43lbs (I weighed them myself). I will update with MPG figures once I have them on for a while but I don’t expect any significant drop due to how close their weight is to stock tires.
- Comfort - they ride just as smooth if not smoother than the Pirelli’s. They handle large potholes and bumps better but they do wander just a tad which I expected switching to a more aggressive tread pattern.
- Wet/Snow Performance - we are expecting some rain later this week so I will update once I get some time in the rain. These tires are not 3PMSF rated.
- Overall impressions - these tires look and perform amazing. I would say this is the perfect tire for those looking for the looks and performance of the Ridge Grapplers but don’t want the weight that comes with them (47lbs for the 275/60r20 XL rated tires). Overall, I am very happy with these tires after driving 500 miles with them. Good job Toyo!

I got a new set of wheels that need tires but I’m going to wait for your wet weather review! Looking good and I think these look better than the ridge grapplers 👍

Nice looking truck and thanks for sharing your impressions on the Toyo tires--they sound like a good balance of looks, performance, and MPG. I'll look at these for my next tires. I bought my truck used with Ridge Grapplers in LT275/60R20 (E) size, 60lbs each -- Good for durable off-roading and towing, but that's only 1/3 of my time. I find myself wondering if I should run a second set of wheels tires and swap seasonally or as needed...

Great review, I bought the Toyo Open Country AT3s 275/60R20 “SL” (43#s) and put them on Brinks Fang wheels but I later put them on my son’s F150 when he moved out.

I like the look of those tires and the weight.

I love the look of them. Just wish they were 3 peak mountain snowflake rated like the AT3's are.

UPDATE: I got a chance to drive them through the rain and I am impressed with their wet traction. They definitely feel much better than the stock Pirelli’s which felt very sketchy when turning and going over large puddles of water. One more thing to note is that the truck feels tighter around turns compared to the stock marshmallows which is much appreciated. So far the only con to this tire is the bit of road noise they produce but that is me nitpicking. My girlfriend did not notice the increased road noise until I pointed it out and even then she hardly noticed a difference. Here’s some more pictures after washing the truck:

Thank you, these tires really made a difference in the looks department! Since I don’t really tow much and do occasional off-roading (mostly muddy construction sites and gravel roads), these tires were perfect to achieve the desired look and performance without compromising MPG’s or comfort. I really won’t be able to attest to their heavy towing performance since the most I ever tow is around 6,000lbs. I had the Ridge Grapplers LT35x12.5r20 (F) in my previous truck and I loved how it looked but man filling up twice a week was painful!

I strongly considered those tires too but knowing myself I would’ve eventually wanted something more aggressive. I went back and forth between AT3s and Ridge Grapplers till these came out, perfect balance between the two!

If it's worth anything, you might want to take a look at this review. They seem to do pretty good in the snow.

Hello All! I just took delivery of my 2023 XLT, 5.0, with BAP. I've been strongly thinking of going with the trail RT on my stock 20 inch wheels. Is anyone running these in an LT on stock suspension? I was hoping to "PLUS" up from the stock 275/60/20 and fill in a little more wheel well.
