I have been a bad forum member recently due to haste, and frustration. I decided to try and put together all of the data on the tow packages to help many of us figure out what we can actually tow. Quick conclusions to investigate with this data are as follows. Please help me dissect this information.

For example according to everything I have seen. Powerboost 4x4 145" with a class IV receiver/hitch and tow tech only, is only rated to 7,000lbs due to lack of a stabilizer bar versus 11,000 with tow or 12,400 with max tow. I am really trying to vet this out and NO ONE at Ford has been able to help at all. I will update the doc with any information needed.

•5,000 lbs. tow rating for the bumper
•7,000 lbs. rating with a Class IV Hitch without tow or max tow (this will disappoint a lot of folks because it is buried that they don't get the solid stabilizer bar, even with tow tech)
•Trailer Tow and, Max Trailer Tow and HDPP get a solid stabilizer bar getting you to the published tow ratings
•Ecoboost 3.5L WITH Trailer Tow or above AND Powerboost WITH OR WITHOUT tow package get a larger radiator
•Max tow gets larger rear brakes

I look forward to feedback on this.

EDIT v2 of DOCUMENT

My 2019 Ranger 4x4 is rated to tow 7600 pounds, I ordered the 2021 King Ranch with tow tech and from your post it will tow less than my Ranger?

I watched Motorweek this morning. They had a Porsche Cayene on there that would tow 7700.

Don't know when you guys changing your orders was originally done but be careful of price increases.

Apparently if you make any change to an order and there has been a price increase on any option you have, it will be applied.
OR in many of our cases even though we ordered in October or November well ahead of the max tow price increase, we STILL got screwed because it hadn't been window stickered yet. I'm guessing only dealer stock orders made it under the wire or very few retail orders got the original price.

What engine. But yes, nothing is rated over 7,000 lbs without the trailer tow package.

6,000 for the 2.7L

It has the 2.3 eco 270hp and the 7500 pounds towing ( the 7600 was a typo)
I doubt it will make you feel any better, but if you look at the 2019 towing guide, the Ranger is only good for 7500 pounds if it has the Towing Package (53R).

Without the tow package, the Ranger is only good to 3,500lbs.

I wish I knew this beforehand, unfortunately (and fortunately) my truck has already been built and is enroute. I ordered a 2.7L with the tow tech package since it looked like a better deal on the build website and nothing in there mentioned the lack of a stiff sway bar or the 6000lbs tow limit. I thought I was going to get 7700lbs per the towing guide chart.

Since its already too late for me to change my build, has anyone ever installed an aftermarket Front sway bar to increase towing capacity? I’ve also seen that rear sway bars exist, so I could potentially save money on instal by keeping the front sway bar the same but adding a rear axle one. Looks like some kits online are around $500, but I’m curious how much install it would end up being.

Mine isn't built, but ordered, and I too only got the 53B. I was able to find there's ways of getting the 9.75 rear axle (the regular one) over the 8.8 by selecting 3.73 e-locker, but I didn't know about the Sway Bar. It seems possible that this would be an easy swap if needed. I'll look into it further.

Hmmm.... Can someone point me to where the Stabilizer Bar information exists on Ford's site? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

It isn't on the site. It is in the document at the beginning of this thread, Page 5.

Thanks for that info! I hope that's true. That means I'll have it.
