Add another vote for the x4s. If you truly want help, I think you should list your budget and priorities. Example I was dead set on hard cover for security, no drain plugs, mostly weather proof and reasonably easy to take off. Budget was around 1k. I’m happy with my choice after narrowing it down to the x4s and leer.

thanks for your input - narrowed it down to Bakflip MX4 and Leer HF650. Thought I wanted a soft cover but others on this thread have convinced me otherwise

You’re welcome. Both are pricey but should last a long time. If you go Bak, you should reach out to frank, @Stage3Motorsports who is a forum sponsor here and can get you a good deal.

I recently picked up the Truxedo pro x15. Paid $140 from AmericanTrucks.com as an open box item, missing the hardware kit (clamps and weatherstrip). Paid $26 on Amazon for replacement clamps. I couldn’t be happier, looks great. I plan to add the Truxedo elevate t-slot rails to keep a low profile look and allow me to add crossbars.

After a lot of research, I decided on the Undercover Armor Flex. It was fairly easy to install and is waterproof. I’ve had it for about 4 months and really like it and I think it looks great. I got it through Tonneaucovered.com.

I have the UnderCover Armor Flex Tri-Fold and would recommend. I have full access to the bed, zero leaking so far in 6 mos of use. Also very secure and supports quite a bit of weight (I can stand on it). I also like the Line-X coating on the top for durability. I paired it with the Adarac Pro Aluminum rack for the necessary tri-fold clearance (due to the vertical vs. tapered supports) - all works great.
Do the Adarac rails (sides of the bed) push water back towards the tonneau seals? Do the rails make it more difficult to open your tonneau? I’ll only use my bed rack s few times a year, so I’m curious if the permanently installed rails get in the way for everyday tonneau usage.

The rails don't cause any interference or water ingress issues. The vertical rack "towers" do interfere with the seals on the sides of the cover when opening the cover, but it just takes a little extra force to push the cover segment past the tower (if that makes sense). I think they look a little odd, but function really well. I also noticed a rattle inside the tower rails (horizontal bars across top of towers) - it's a little annoying with the rear window open, but not a mechanical issue. I will probably just mark the tower positions and take them off when not using them - just two bolts each.

Do the trifold covers interfere with the auto close tailgate feature?

Mine does not interfere. I have a 2021 Lariat with the auto tailgate and the LXP tri-fold hard cover from Truck Gear By Line-X. It's expensive, but I needed the added security to so I could leave my tools in the truck bed at all times. The cover comes with an end-to-end lifetime warranty. Best of luck deciding on a cover. It's not easy, but I'm sure you'll be happy with whatever you choose as they are all built well now a days.

+1 for Truck Gear and the lifetime warranty. I went with the Stealth because LXP was severely backordered and am very happy with it.

I don't have the power tailgate, but I do find that it seals tight enough to prevent the tailgate from releasing fully when using the key fob. Have to give it a little nudge to release all the way.

I highly doubt it as there is no interference with the tailgate - but I can't say for sure as I don't have that slick feature :)

Had that cover on my '17 it was top shelf. Noticed on the interstate this weekend my X4S is 'lifting" towards the front, going to have to uninstall and start over to see what I did wrong. Starting to HATE the Bak X4S.

Sorry to hear your covers giving you trouble. Hopefully, it just needs squared up and clamps retightened. Good luck

I've had the Bakflip MX4 my past 2 trucks. Expensive cover but did it's job well.

For my '22 I found locally a used Extang Exceed for 1/4 of the price. I prefer this over the MX4 as it's the same overall design for the most part but I like how the top is seamless, doesn't show the folds.

On my '03 Harley F150 I went with a roll up soft Truxedo Lopro QT. The HD is only a fair weather joy ride and doesn't take any abuse (except for the go pedal) and the lopro is a nice looking roll up.
