Dropped by a different local dealer to set up an appointment for the trailer connector recall, as well as change oil and rotate tires. After doing that, I walked through their showroom.

In it, were 2 Ford GT's. One a 2005 model with the old 5.4L V8 engine. It couldn't have been new, but it sure looked like it. Sticker price was $166,495. It carried a gas guzzler tax line item of $2,100.

There was also a 2021 model GT. It had the same 3.5L engine our trucks have. Well, not really. The only thing similar id the 3.5L displacement. It carried a $2,600 gas guzzler tax. Sticker price of this GT was $715,350. of a million dollars.

It's a little rich for my blood. almost 3/4 million dollars

do a cars.com search on the Ford GT for around the country and you will see the 166K price is a steal.. Cheapest one on there is 195K then they go 400k+....

$10 Says neither vehicle is for sale and the sticker is the MSRP, gas guzzler tax is for new passenger vehicles.

It’s not unusual for limited edition exotic stuff to sit like that. Somewhere, there’s a vintage Ducati that is still brand new in its unopened crate; which has a modification of a window so that one can peek in on it.

I remember once my family stopped in at a DeSoto dealership that still had brand new cars polished and shined in the showroom with only a few miles on them decades after the marque went defunct. The owners had left the dealership open as a way to attract business to their repair shop and gas station in addition to still owning the Chrysler dealership across the street.

One of the Acura dealers near me has a 1990’s Integra Type R in the dealership but it’s got the velvet rope treatment with ‘not for sale’ signs visible from every angle.

Maybe Ducatis and other luxury brand vehicles will hold the “Not for sale” line sue to manufacturers having more strings attached to them, but I’d be surprised if there’s a Ford dealer on the planet with a “Not for sale” vehicle sans maybe some huge operation in the south with a vintage Shelby, even then…

Case in point, the sales manager of local high volume dealer managed secure a first edition reservation of a Bronco. It was “Not for sale”. $100k dealer profit later it was no longer on the lot.

This is the 2021 GT. It has the 3.5L engine. But I think it's a little more special compared to the 3.5L in our Eco Boost and Power Boost trucks.
