the thinkware site
i will post the link if it helps
https://thinkwarestore.com/product/echomaster-obd-ii-power-cable-us/

https://thinkwarestore.com/product/double-fuse-hardwiring-cable-us/ my unit came with this one as well, in the box. i have to go look in loft to see where i put it
Yeah it was after I read the Thinkware site (or the company that makes Thinkware—I can’t remember the name) that I realized what might be happening. The thing is that I didn’t want to have to learn all about cameras and dongles, I just wanted it to work. That’s why I went with the Ford kit. I would have gone with a different company.

It’s very weird that my previous post warning people about that dongle on powerboosts seems to have disappeared??

which kit did ford dealer install? they make still have the power cable sitting in a techs tool box of odds and ends
ford should have a disclaimer on the acc site to indicate you need the hard line vice the dongle, even though the ford kit (thinkware) comes with the dongle for obd.??
i bet if you call thinkware , they could send you the proper cable, as part of goodwill ??

Yeah, Thinkware was great. They hardwire kit didn’t cost much. I bought the Ford kit from the accessories site and then have dealt with Thinkware since then.

Exactly. I paid a premium to not have to worry about it working and then it didn’t.

That stinks, I find it more confusing the deeper I dig.

I'd like to get a get with no false alarms, ie, I don't want the neighbors Vette setting it off everytime it passes, but I also want it to record when grandma gets aggressive with the door opening.

Usually I park a pretty fair distance away from everything, but I don't have a choice at the daycare with a parking lot the size of a postage stamp and parents with kids who could care less.

Edit: I don't have a powerboost, so it sounds like I won't have to worry about the power issue, but would something like the X1000 be sufficient. Would it send me alerts like the Ford perimeter plus system?

The camera that I got is a DC-E1-FG, the equivalent of the Thinkware F70, the base model, which was fine for my needs.

Just spent another hour on the phone with Ford transferring around phone trees, etc. I was eventually told to go to my dealer. Yeah, right. Just glad that I went with the cheapest dash cam. And I hope that other Powerboost owners find these posts before buying dash cams from the Ford site or dealers.

you can change the sensitivity to bumps and thumps. it has to be sending to the cloud to get a real time alert, or when you get back in truck it makes a beep with a flashy light (that i cant see or hear, i noticed it later.) the only way to get it to report real time is have the wifi on or a hotspot 24 7 or it can see your home wifi.
the truck wifi shuts off when truck is off, so there must be a work around for the built in modem, but i have not tried to solve that yet.

today i removed the interior door panel to get to the last iddy bit of the dent.
guess where its at? under the intrusion brace that is glued to the door skin .
my measurements had it landing in the upper leg of the c channel support, so the little part will remain. its practically invisible unless you know where to look.
