But for those of us that pull trailers, would love to have this to use with my travel trailer. No thanks. Traditional one piece gate for this old timer, please.
That particular one in the picture is for the platinum model. He said they are still working on it because they’re having quality issues with the stampings but they’re pretty much 90% there.i'm sure you can swap them at this point seeing these pics. it looks like the tail gate like the others is still its on entity.
though, the only thing that might hurt some wanting to add this to their truck is that this tail gate is appears from press releases to be all electronic. do the STX/XLT trucks have handles still or is everything an electronic soft touch button on their tailgates?
none the less, seems ford is only offering these are more loaded trims as well. i know from this forum anything can be added but it may be more difficult for some compared to others.
Any half competent fork lift driver can set a pallet down without having to 'drag it over the tailgate', especially for something being loaded into an F150. This is very basic beginner level skills.Rams barn door style tailgate is far superior to this offering from Ford. Ram’s allows for a pallet to be set in the box without dragging it over the tailgate. The only real purpose I see for Fords version is removing grocery bags
see, thats the other thing i thought about. if these ONLY come on fancy schmancy higher up trims, then that'll mean there wont be a huge surplus of these on the used market. not only that, very unlikely to even be affordable. i can not even fathom what one of these would cost through a dealer! my hope is finding someone with one who hates and has the same color F150 as mine that'll want to do a straight up swapThat particular one in the picture is for the platinum model.
