I just filled up the second tank on my 2.7 and the first tank got 18.3ish mpg. I fully expect my second tank to hit 22+mpg. There are many factors in each trucks economy. The largest being the driver. Altitude, fuel octane, driving conditions all will change. I live in GA just outside ATL and drive some backroads and some highway, but if you are in stop and go you mpg will suffer. If you drive mostly highway not very hilly then you might hit 26 to 27. May factors to take into account before stating a design is flawed.

I picked up my 2.7 a couple weeks ago and am currently about a quarter through my 2nd tank of 87 octane. Numbers are… not impressive to say the least.
  • Overall L/100 reading 15.1 on pick up day, 70 km on odometer
  • Filled up at 1/4 tank, 90L of 87 octane, overall L/100 had improved to 13.1, 685km on odometer - (90/615)*100 = 14.6 L/100. Not horrendous.
  • Reset trip 1 and currently reading 11.9 L/100 with 175km travelled and 785 EDR. Using tonesto7 widget, fuel tank is at 78%. If FordPass/fuel gauge is to be believed, [(0.22*136L)/175]*100 = 17.1 L/100. I can deal with 0.5-1.5 variance between truck gauge and calculated, but 5.2 is ridiculous.
  • I’ve been noticing on trips of 30km travelling about 93km/h, using the widget, the tank reading is going down by 5% each time. [(0.05*136L)/30]*100 = 22.7 L/100:oops:
I’ll be interested to see what the calculations look like at the end of this tank. I’m seriously hoping this is a glitch, or at the absolute least the truck is just in its break in period. I know there are potential factors like winter temps, winter fuel, winter tires, and the engine is so new, but I’m not having a lot of confidence in my choice of the 2.7 right now. If these numbers are true and I knew I would be eating through fuel this quickly, I would have just gotten the 3.5 for the extra 75hp & 100lb/ft.
Thought I'd follow-up on my original post a month later. The truck fuel economy has improved drastically. I don't know if it's because it's better broken in (2,215 KM) or the warmer weather we've had, but all my previous complaints and observations are now non-existent. Previously the fuel gauge was going down 5% per 30 km, the same trips are now using 2% or less. Trip meter for this tank is reading 10.9 L/100 after coming down from an initial reading of 13.5 and the EDR is actually improving on some trips instead of dropping like a stone. Currently reading 850 KM EDR with 73% fuel remaining and 265 KM on the trip odometer. 1,100 KM/tank with mixed driving is certainly ideal and I'm quite happy with that if this trend continues.

I should note, per a post in a previous thread, I'm using Eco mode exclusively. I find it's much smoother and refined to drive. I didn't like how lurchy the truck was if my foot slipped going over small bumps, and I like how the cruise control accelerates in Eco mode compared to Normal.

What part of this post seems negative to you? I’m very confused.
I’m requesting insight from other owners to determine if there’s an issue with my trucks’ fuel efficiency.

I specifically stated that my truck is solid. I even shared a sexy pic. ?‍♂
You got 900 Km from 136L and you think there is a problem????

With my 2.7 Im currently getting 500km per tank.

Thats with a ton of remote starting currently with the cold.

But even on a highway trip at 120km/h you can only expect to get 1000.

your expectations are way too high!!!

As previously mentioned, my assessment is based on a comparison to the 2018 F150 that I had prior to this one which had the basic 3.3 V6 and would easily get over 1000 km per tank with the same driving conditions that I am currently doing with the 2021 model that I have.

I thought I would get better fuel economy with a smaller engine but I have been thoroughly educated by a few other guys on this thread that it just doesn’t work that way.
