has anyone had your ditch lights on a temporary basis- that is to have them on a removable wire so no one would be tempted to steal them- yes sometimes it's a bit shady when parking downtown.

Yes. I have the brackets installed and the wiring under the hood. 2 pin connector, and 1 bolt, lights come right off. The way the 4runner brackets are, you hardly notice them without the lights on. I personally think the lights look dorky but functionally theyre pretty solid which is why I remove them unless I know we will be doing night wheeling. Most lights come with a pigtail that will reach from the hood mount to under the hood.

Yup they do look terrible, but it might be a better easier, more budget friendly alternative to 1500-dollar baja lights (they do look great) that I won't get much use of, at 70 I'm not much into driving at night anymore - sucks getting old -lol

Just get the cheap amazon, harbor freight, or Walmart lights for that pair.
Nilight.
We use them, can replace several times for price of Bajas.
We do desert night runs in summer 110 deg F, AC on, camp at 11pm or later 80 deg F by 1am then sleep LOL. Totally worth it. I'm 62 but can still handle it. LOl
At night Anza Borrego, Ocotillo, Mojave, southern Utah all come alive.
Weve seen so many foxes, coyotes, owls, kangaroo rats, sidewinders, etc only on these night runs.
I'm 62 but can still handle it...sorta LOl

YUP at 70 I don't drive much at night anymore but when I do I'd like to be able to see. I don't know how some of these guys can pay 1200 bucks for lights alone- being on a fixed income is tough enough lol. I'm in Northern Utah now, but I sometime miss that Mojave road area I tell you going off road in this AC equiped 2023 STX sure beats my old open air 67 Scout for comfort LOL. I think I'll take your advice and go with the nilights or the HF ones- thanks for the reply.

IMO any light looks dorky unless it's an XL series or the LP 4's from Baja Designs. or whatever brand that has the similar light. Regardless, i'd remove them anyways. one bolt, and one connector per side, and the light is gone.

Harbor freight Road shock lights are extremely enticing to me. they have a chonky setup that looks great.
