I am interested and a friend of mine is also interested. He may wait until 2022 trucks to order.
What we would like some one with the tail gate step to do is go out and measure just how far off the ground the step actually is?
He has an extra pound of two and not sure if he could get his leg up to the step.

Right at 2' 1" on my XLT FX4 SCREW stock 20" rims and tires.

The stripper pole helps immensely once I get my foot up there!

The step is kind of high but yes the pole does help quite a bit.

Tell your friend I totally sympathize? … being one of those mid life guys with “an extra pound or two”! this was one of my ‘must-have’ options when I spec’d out my ‘21!! Have since come across a few guys my age and funny thing… we ALL included this option!

That gives me an idea as to how high. Guess it will be a little lower since my 2021 Lariat(that I may receive by 2024)will have 18" tires.
Thanks for all the answers.

LOL! Never would have dreamed of this option 10 years ago. Yeah, I got it too.

Ya got me out here at 0100 playing with my tailgate!

Here’s the verdict for a Lariat SuperCrew with the FX4 and Max Tow packages, 18” wheels, 5.5 foot bed: the base of the step where you would place your foot is right at 22 inches off the ground.

I’ve attached some photos so you can get an idea. Sorry the quality isn’t the best it was pretty dark. First use of the Zone Lighting came in clutch, though!!

WOW! Knickell, That is going the extra mile. Nice looking truck and also gives me an idea on how great the zone lighting is. I hope your neighbors were not shaking the curtains wondering what is he doing now at this hour?
Thanks for the great info.

@ Doggy-Do: As a man that is...let's call it pro linebacker sized (or more than a bit over the stated weight limit of the tailgate step) I've had these steps since 2013, I make a point to not step in the center of the step....you know, to preserve my dignity;)

Out of curiosity, is there actually a rated limit on the stair assembly?

Yes there is and I'm embarrassingly WTF over it!

So apparently I can climb the steps naked. OR i can hoist a bag of feathers but I cant get dressed and carry a bag of feathers into the bed of the truck! ;-)
I have the same issue with ladders at work lol and not too many feathers, what's the trick question..."which is heavier, 1000 lbs of bricks or 1000 lbs of feathers"?
