I’ve never owned a Ford but I’m sure I’ll be buying one soon. Actually just listed my 2019 Ram so I’ll be ready to buy when some rebates show up. I test drove a 5.0 and 3.5 and I’m a little torn. I love the torque and acceleration of the 3.5 but hate the sound! I’m used to my hemi with a muffler delete. Am I the only one that feels this way? Any suggestions for making the 3.5 sound better?

Did the 3.5 feel quicker than the 5.0 and your hemi?

For sure, it was quicker than my Ram and the 5.0 I drove. I’m guessing it’s all that torque on the 3.5. I feel like my Ram is a little quicker than the 5.0 though. I’d rather have the 3.5 but I’m not sure I can get used to the sound.

My two cents - nothing sounds as good as power feels. Go with the 3.5. Actually no, get the hybrid!

I opted for the 3.5 for the Torque and HP, and the fact i didn't like the new 5.0 De activated cylinder system they are using this year. Cant hear the motor when the stereo is turned up anyway ! when I I put the 3.5 in sport mode its very impressive!

There is no substitute for a good old American V8. However, the 3.5L EcoBoost definitely doesn’t sound bad. Whether that’s because if it’s natural or “enhanced” sound, I don’t know.

But like many others on here the feel of power from the EcoBoost is absolutely smile inducing. I agree, the feel beats the sound in this case!

Don't worry, they pump fake engine noise into the cab thru your speakers. :):):)
Sounds like a big ole V8 under the hood.
I can't believe they actually thought they needed to do that. I'll be removing that first thing, some of us need to hear what the real engine is doing.

When I did my test drive 5 months ago I don't recall the sound at all, but the torque was unforgettable. I've been been buying gm V8's for 25 years and the 3.5 wins that race all day.

Take this with a grain of salt as I ordered a 5.0..

Fuck the noise. There will even no real engine noise in practically all cars in the next 10-20 years. Might as well get the engine you think feels and drives the best in your opinion and not worry about any noise.

I have been driving EB engines the last 11 years. I rolled my window down in my new KR driving through Starbucks and noticed the high pitched and awkward sound of the EB as I revved the engine a bit (much more pronounced than my 2011). It’s an acquired taste!
