last night i charged the truck to 100%
it sat overnight.
i left at 12 ish noon time and drove to lowes 27 miles away with ac fan on 5 seat cooler at mid fan, radio at 22 or 21 depending on song.
ran 65 to 70 all but 4 miles
backed truck in to carport and let her sit for an hour
just put charger on and its 88% state of charge
so at least its getting up to the 85% as dictated by the ecm

Yikes…being retired and with other vehicles in the stable, the PB truck may only get used once a week on occasion and where will be the charge level… hovering around 30% and draining down?

Going over my spread sheet I keep for forscan changes I have made. I remembered another WTF setting. The BCM keeps the auxiliary power distribution on for 1 hour and 15 minutes, even after you walk away and lock the doors. If i remember correctly when you open the door to without touching the ignition it turns the aux. power back on for another hour and fifteen minutes. I changed mine to turn off after 2 minutes.

BCM-726-57-01, (1194 xxxx xx--) = 4500 seconds or 1hr 15 minutes
(0078 xxxx xx--) = 120 seconds or 2 minutes

i was musing this morning as to why they put in the lesser battery at the plant, they also deleted the auto start stop and gave me a 50 credit on window sticker
maybe they figured the lesser battery was ok with start stop deleted, but didnt factor in all the modules running in background. if i open the truck with keypad, at 1st number pressed you can hear all kind of stuff under hood "waking up"

With all the electronics/computers in modern vehicles im surprised manufactures have not bumped up to a 24 volt system. The 12 volt systems are getting taxed. The good old days of listening to the radio for hours when the vehicle was off and still starting up with out issue are gone.

Just being curious I went onto the Ford accessories and parts website looking at the batteries, I noticed they all said on backorder. Wonder if that could be why the higher trims are getting the AGM 760 battery.

Looking at the owners manual for the 2021 it states the 760 battery is standard and the 800 battery is optional for all trims. I have not looked at the 2022 manual yet.

my 22 owners also shows the 800 as optional, but in body builder book of specifications its lists the 800 as primary for lariats and above . i am not sure what ford will do; although i have a case number already and POC from an email saturday i am to call once i get to the dealer on tuesday. we shall see what transpires.

if the 760 stays, i will program to turn offstuff as you did and then most likely place an aux battery in my tool box. i understand it sitting for 3 days or longer does take a toll on the batteries already tasked to the upper limits of AH capacity, not to mention the HEAT in the engine bay. my 16 exp had to be charged after 10 or so days, but it did not get in the 35% SOC range.
for grins i charged up my wifes edge it was in the upper 80% range after a short trip to town and max ac. and that battery is 4 years old

i am mentally prepared for the standard 760 as its whats called for and 800 as optional , even though the build body specifies different. but i at least want a case and service record of issue.

The 760 battery on my 21 Lariat 500a was replaced after 1 year in service. The dealer replaced it with the same. Living in the northeast with cold winters I've been considering upgrading my battery for the additional CCA's as well as higher reserve capacity when larger OTA's are being installed.

After researching this with my dealer's parts department here's what I found out.

The battery tray for all 2021 F-150's is the same part number. ML3Z-10732-D (including the diesel) and it is 14" x 7" where the battery rests. The hold down is the same for all as well. The battery's that were installed are listed below.

Part numberTypeGroupCCACAReserve CapacityLengthWidthHeightUsage
BAGM-48H6-760AGM48/H676095012010.946.897.48up to Lariat low
BAGM-94RH7-800AGM94R/H7800100014012.46.897.48Lariat high and above
BAGM-49H8-850AGM49/H8850106216013.946.897.48Diesel

I'm not sure if the cables on my 5.0 will reach the additional 2" if I were to upgrade to the 850 I'm still trying to figure this out. The 800 will defiantly work as @powerboatr has already shown us.

Has anyone tried to install the BAGM-49H8-850 in there non diesel truck?
Are there any changes to be made in BCM regarding battery size?

Additionally, Here the part numbers for battery heat shields for each size listed above.

Hey guys, 2022 PB owner here. Had similar and gradually worse problem with the stock H7 battery, turned out faulty Auxiliary Battery Insulator.
How do you check? Get a clamp DC current meter, and measure the current from the main battery (without physically unplugging anything). What you need is to open the hood, turn off the engine, and lock the truck. Leave the truck (as in move the keys away), and come back periodically without the keys to measure the battery drain every 15 minutes. Right after locking the truck, for the first 5-10 min the current is very high - l recall like 8A or so, but then it starts gradually falling.
within first 30 min, expect it to be way below 1A, or you have a problem.

Next step: I adjusted battery charge level from damn 80% to 90%, and my idle battery voltage is now much healthier! I finally see 13V on a battery, and this is with dashcam + parking mode installed.

Lastly - I tried to upgrade my H7 to Costco bought H8 AGM (that was before the repair and Forscan mod), and... it did not fit the tray on my PB. I actually had to detach that module on the left edge of the battery to make it fit (posted pics on the other F150 forum), and it only delayed the inevitable failure. (BTW, Costco H8 has higher CCA, and it is 95Ah - a bit better than Ford H8). With that said... I still feel like it would not hurt to upgrade stock H7 to H8, BUT I need to get a new tray and a new battery sleeve. New AGM H8 is ~CAD $300 (with taxes), plus cost of a new tray and sleeve... Maybe simply get a Lithium car battery in H7 size? this way you get much higher CC/CCA, and a lot more usable battery capacity to run all these electronics...

Here is devil is whispering into my ear: https://antigravitybatteries.com/products/starter-batteries/automotive/ag-h7-rs/ - the 80Ah version is steep US $1200, but that is a big upgrade IMHO - lighter, 2000 (!) CC, wireless jump start... but I will have to drive to US to get it, AND I do not know how Ford BMS will co-exist with Lithium battery

Either the battery is not getting charged properly by the alternator (which can also be the result of a faulty relay) or the battery is not holding a charge (easy to use a load tester to verify) or there is a parasitic drain on the battery.

I had a SUV with a rear xeon light and the switch was poorly designed and would cause a power drain. Overnight the battery could be drained to the point where I could not start the engine. I removed the bulb and problem was "fixed".

Another option would be to add a disconnect lever on the battery post and disconnect it each night or to add a battery tender but I would go to a good auto electrical repair shop and have the tech look for the parasite if it comes to that. Dealer mechanics are usually marginal when it comes to troubleshooting a problem.

With all the electronics on the newer vehicles the odds of a parasitic drain has gone up exponentially.

After getting the h7 800 CCA battery have your low battery issues been resolved?

Sorry I haven't been keeping up with the forums as I was selling my home buying a new one and moving.

actually YES. i have had zero issues and I did not change any behaviors to conserve pwr.
i have been very happy,
i even installed a thinkware U1000 dash cam set up that runs after truck is shut off if it senses situations that dictate it recording.

That is great news. Glad it was a somewhat simple fix, even though it was a trip to the dealer to get the correct battery.
