Wondering if anyone knows why they changed 2021 stock antennas.

Mine, built May 23rd. And some random pic of the other style.

That’s interesting. Is the one you have a two-piece? Just curious if you can unscrew the upper portion and end up with a stubby antenna for garage clearance issues.

Is the first one factory? I had an aftermarket one like that many years ago with that "sleeve" on the bottom. You can find those on ebay right now as well.

For the record, my current antenna looks just like the factory one but is only 17" to clear the garage. My old 21" would still hit cause they mounted the '21 up top and my '14 was on the fender.

Mine built 5/17 looks just like the pic. It’s shorter than the one on my ‘17 so it barely scrapes my garage door rather than severely scraping.

Seems like a single piece.

Maybe different supply sources?

It’s a random picture from someone’s garage. I would not assume it’s “factory” just yet.

I think he’s saying that is his 5/23 build & the random photo below is what we’re use to seeing.
Does it slide up or fixed in place? I remember seeing the ones with a sleeve in the past, probably to eliminate wind noise or resonance that made them whip? Curious what my 5/3 will arrive with now. ?

Or maybe the dealer screwed up his factory antenna (or arrived without one, stolen, etc) and had this one on hand. I used to work at a dealer and some of the stuff we saw getting off those trucks would surprise you. One time the driver rolled a brand new Nissan Titan off the truck and it was loaded with praying mantises. No joke. It was one of the weirdest things I’ve ever seen.

Mine also came with the shorter, sleeved antenna. Built 5/25 at Dearborn.

It may be a base loaded antenna to help increase the rf gain and performance of the digital radio.

Good to know. I’d imagine maybe for wind noise. Now that I think about it, my old sport trac had that sleeve on it many years ago.
