Speedometer cluster reboots during driving

Has anyone ever had the issue of the speedometer cluster going black and rebooting in the middle of driving?

I was driving home from the farm late at night this week and the cluster just went black for a few seconds and then rebooted itself. I have physical needles for RPM and MPH. Both went through their complete range of travel and then came back to where they used to be.

It hasn't done it again and it's never done it before. I was just curious if anybody else has experienced this and if it's known issue or if this was just a one-off weird deal?

I have had it happen 2-3 times in 26k miles on my 23 STX and once on my 22 platinum with 7500 on it. It’s never caused any major issues but does always aggravate me when it happens

with that said it seems more like a software than a hardware issue

Thanks for the prompt reply and input. I was really concerned about if I needed to get this replaced under factory warranty or not. So it sounds like it's software... Then I'll worry less about getting the hardware replaced.

This winter when I get more free time I need to get a hold of a mongoose cable and pay for fdrs to update my truck. Just haven't made it a priority yet.

I was using the lane keep feature at 70+mph and it rebooted as I was driving into a curve... I wonder if that caused it?

i have had a few random reboots while driving...but its been both screens not just the IPC screen

it seems HAL has many ghosts in the machine and its not uncommon, sort of like windows

its inconvenient and can give you pause ...especially at speed

I had same issues 22 STX
Affected both screens
I like my screen to be Trip 1 only so I keep rest in the closet
When my main screen went blank I was in cruise control
When it came right back on all screens were active and went to trip 2 I think and all my mpg numbers were changed
At same time my radio screen locked up on navigation
I continued to drive another hour to the Bass Pro at Bristol while navigation still locked up
When parked I removed the key and opened door
Then restart all was fine
On same weekend radio screen crashed again
I think it’s update related I have poor Wi-Fi at home
Mechanic told me if it didn’t straighten out to do hard restart
I did and hasn’t occurred again and that was last summer
