Speaker wire harness adaptors - are they needed?

Hi all,

I am getting ready to pull the trigger on some kicker speakers and I need to know if the wire harness adaptors are needed or can I remove the existing one from the speaker and reuse it?

Which radio do you have? Base, 8 channel, or 18 channel?

The factory wiring is like dental floss -- it's really bad. If you're not adding an amp, getting the speaker harness makes it plug and play. I'd consider decent speakers and an amp personally. Adapters are free w/ speakers at crutchfield.

Sorry, should have provided a bit of detail. I have an XLT with the standard 6 speaker arrangement.
