Yeah, I think I saw a thread around here which goes over that process.
Was it actually 30 hours actively poking this thing to get it going, or the start/wait/check timeline for this took that long?
I'm not afraid to muck around with my cars so I may go down this route.
Do you have a thread I can look at?
I know the thread is here somewhere but I'm not finding it quickly! It is a REALLY long thread as I recall.
30 hours--- No not all was active. That's just start to finish. 10am on a Friday to about 5pm Sat. I left one update go overnight. Seems like the estimate on that update was 5 hours. MOST are not that long. Lots of engine on/off and ACC on/off. DO have a clean formatted USB handy. Some updates are via the USB port. There were some module updates that then had to be redone after other updates. BUT... I can say (as a software guy) the FDRS was really clear and walked me through each step. DO have a battery assist (there is an Amazon link in here to the recommended one to keep the battery up). I kinda setup an office with my laptop inside my shop for the 30 hours and it really was painless. I DID use Jesse's expertise a few times (messaged him) when something didn't seem right. Jesse assured me that even if I bricked it (didn't even come close) it was recoverable. I'm really happy with the effort vs results.

Hi everyone. New here and hoping y'all can help me call BS on my dealer. Bought a used truck with all the right BlueCruise hardware Friday before Christmas and was assured BC would work when I got it home and updated OTA. Of course it didn't, so I took it back the following Tuesday. They still have it and now say that Ford instructed them to stop working on the BC "recall". They insinuated, vaguely, that it could damage the heads up display. I'm assuming what they really mean is the optional program ended and they can't make money on the work despite misleading me at point of sale.

As a side note, my factory door code is different than what the dual key authentication screen shows...so I suspect the APIM has been replaced previously, but it's not listed on any service record I've found.

Side note 2 is that I could never find a version for the software package or sync on my in car display. The spots where they should be listed were blank.

Anything I can use to call their BS? Do I need to be worried about a faulty APIM and push them to test further?

My VIN is 1FTFW1ED6MFB41829

Appreciate the help!

No OTA history on your truck in the past 60 days and you are on Sync version 20301 which is a big red flag for these trucks. You are most likely stuck in OTA limbo and will not get anything OTA without dealer intervention. I can see in the vehicle history that the dealer tried to update and perform module repairs on the APIM, but they were unsuccessful and gave up after a few attempts. You will most likely have to open a case with Ford customer service. Your truck has the 21G01 campaign for bluecruise programming open and tied to your VIN. I highly doubt Ford told them to stop working on the truck.

Thank you for the reply and researching my VIN. I called Ford this morning and they confirmed that a stop work notice was issued on 21G01 effective 1/4/2023. Apparently it can cause issues with the IPC module. They've directed dealers to halt work and wait for further instruction.

I just looked it up in PTS and this is legit. Ford did advise all dealers via a bulletin on PTS yesterday to not perform 21G01 until further notice.

Is it a regulatory/compliance issue, or is it a hardware/software issue?

Thanks for confirming! Looks like I just have really unfortunate timing.

This is all it says.

Duh, my bad, @jslacker even mentioned it was an issue with the IPC's.

I was just thinking that since we rolled into a new year that maybe a new law had gone into effect or something that made the current version of "self driving" illegal

I just checked a truck for someone who recently got 21G01 performed. I remember telling him that when I looked in FDRS history on PTS, that it mentioned the IPC didn't update. Interestingly enough, he said he had blue cruise working anyway, and even full screen CarPlay and alexa. At least in this guy's case, everything works in spite of the IPC not updating. Very strange.

This has been an issue. This is why so many I have had to sideload the cluster software. It is not anything to do with the software it has to do with the ipc update not being required for the other updates to be released and causing issues with the gateway not configuring itself for BlueCruise.

There were MANY people I had to manually update the cluster because they got all the way to the end fully updated and no bc because the cluster didn’t update. Since it didn’t update it wouldn’t show BlueCruise in ford pass or even available so I had to enable it manually and even all the changes I made migrated to the severs and it one random day would notify the person they have BC

That guys cluster is updated or bc won’t work. No way it will work without it being update. No chance

It will give active driver assist errors if it’s not updated .

Mine was one of the trucks you had to can bus the IPC update. Took 6 hours. In his case, the history tab showed the IPC update failed, but maybe they side loaded it at the dealer?

@Henn634 just sent me a deposit for me to loan him my Mongoose so he can update his truck. Should he wait for this to be cleared up before attempting to update his? I was planning on shipping it to him tomorrow, but I can refund him the deposit and send it to him later if you think it will cause an issue. From what I am gathering, this issue Ford is just discovering has been an issue for months, so I think he should be good, but wanted to pick your brain jic.

I know it isn’t an issue with the software. Even if it were I have the files from when I did it and done it for others.

I think they are concerned about the fact it isn’t populated. It would be a situation that he has to be aware the ipc update needs to be done before he gets too far along. So if he were to know that and understand if it hasn’t shown that we need to manually update it.

Can you send the vin of the truck you are referring to about the ipc.
dealers can’t sideload. So I’d like to look at the truck and see what I can find just out of curiosity
