So who in CA will do a Ford ESP?

Didn’t realize our great state (eye roll) decided to pass a law to not allow out of state dealer ESPs. Anyone have a lead on a reasonable dealer priced ESP? Was trying to buy one ASAP as I’m at 31,500 miles…

Another one of those helpful state pieces of legislation that doesn't actually help the citizens. But rather helps protect the insurance industry from competition.

I heard it suggested to purchase using an out of state address?
Ford certainly doesn't care and the policy is assigned to your VIN in Oasis.

I imagine that right out of the box the legislation has a few holes in it. How can they enforce? And how can they stop Ford dealerships from repairing your vehicle?

yup get a south dakota PO box and use it as the address like a lot of RV folks do

hmm, I see what you’re saying. I thought I read someone on a 21+FB group that a CA dealer refused to recognize his warranty because it was purchased out of state but I was mistaken when I just re-read it. Hopefully someone in this giant state will start returning the favor from past practices. I can only imagine their dealer would be getting a ton more traffic…

Actually, the FL law doesn't prohibit ESP sales to their residents by out-of-state vendors. What it does is require that any vendor selling the product in FL be licensed with the FL regulatory agency (and thereby enrich FL with licensing fees and generate a lot of paperwork).

Out of state vendors could play that game and sell to FL residents, but obviously most don't find that proposition attractive.

it didn’t actually happen, that’s what I thought I read but I was wrong. I haven’t read the actual law though to see the ins and outs

and zeigler or granger or koons jsut needs an address to record sale.. easy as falling off a log

Don't put koons in the same boat for ESP pricing. They were twice the price of Zeigler for the exact same coverage. I had to get a refund.
