I really had not played with config tool on the lower models. A short bed, regular cab, FX4 would make an excellent build truck for off-roading. For trail, wish you could get a 5.5' bed, but this would do. Sure better than an SD with 8' bed.

That's inflation for you! I saw an article on a 1982 Lincoln Continental which cost $25,522 brand new. The author stated (and I verified) that in 2021 dollars that car would be $68,450. That seems about on par with current Lincoln pricing.

So, in that vein, your looking at an $11,498 truck (in 1982 dollars). A base 2wd 6-cylinder truck from Ford started at $7,199 ($19,307 in 2021 dollars), so time and technology has certainly had an effect on the price of F-150's.

I factory ordered my 2016 XLT Sport 302a FX4 SUPERCREW 3.5EB with a 6.5' bed. MSRP was $51,095. The same truck today is $55,000. The 3.5EB upgrade was $715 extra...today it is $2,595!!!!!

Similarly spec’d truck Today looks like $77,700 & with extra technology add-ons available & in a tremor package & winch rolls over $86,500!!

Got my window sticker last friday night, 3 days ago. supposed to build it in Kansas this coming Thursday, Jan. 28, Dealer still has not sent sticker to me yet. He is probably trying to find it. Ha Ordered it on Oct. 8. Large local dealer near me on I 10 West and Callahan.

I took off the snow plow prep , because it removed the front electric air dam. Darn, then I forgot the reason I had ordered it was to get the 9.75 rear end. evidently on a RCSB the snow plow prep got the 9.75. at least it did in 2020. I can tell the difference by looking. 8.8 vs. 9.75 I should have kept if 2021 is like 2020.

ETA is 2-22
I ordered this 15yrs to the day that I bought the Ranger at the same dealer—ETA date is the day I bought my 79 Chev C10 new in 79.

I bet it was hard to part with that El Camino.

I hadn’t driven it really in two years and it took almost 20 to accumulate 11,000 miles.
I was building a shed out back and was pretty focused on that when a couple of guys stopped by to see if the 58 Apache in my drive was for sale. My garage was open and they noticed the pair of ElCaminos in there.
Apache was not for sale, so they asked about the 59.
I tossed a rather large number out just to get rid of these guys so I could get back to my project.
Three days later, one of the guys showed up with a literal bag of cash and a trailer.
Since I gave him a number (a bit too low, really), I honored it.
Aired up a tire, fired it up and put it on the trailer.
454HO and a Tremec TKO.
really nice car all around, but not all that ‘city traffic’ friendly.
The car was a bit high strung.
