I had the shorty on my 2011 and the reception was horrible. And I live in DFW where there are plenty of strong stations. I hope you have better luck.

I just went and covered mine with a cap. Zero AM/FM reception.

Ok so my antenna on my 4x2 always whipped on my garage door but it was not that bad. However, my new FX4 truck sits 1.5" higher, and the antenna whips WAY more because of that. So I need to do something about it.

One solution that I have seen, is to just snip the top off. The other option is the short antenna. Are you guys saying that there is no reception sacrifice with these?

I did the stock antenna mod to clear the garage door and if I was still in the South and never used car washes I would stay with that. But up here with being unable to wash the truck in the driveway in the winter, pulling the antenna off to use the car wash was a pain. That's why I went with a 5" shorty. I get the fm stations in metro Detroit area fine.

There are other options besides a shorty antenna or cutting 5” off your OEM antenna. On Amazon they sell a 27” whip antenna that won’t hit your garage door.
