Just trying to clear up some misconceptions for the arm chair engineers who poo poo on the Ford Cylinder Deactivation design. It's nothing like the GM and Ram collapsible lifter design. That's not to say the Ford design is perfect, time will tell, but it certainly looks less complex and kind of even makes sense.

After watching the video, you might think, as that little latch moves in and out and wears, will valve play be introduced, making the valve open less over time.....

Good for others to see if unable to find it.

I am.sure the technology is better than the GM but man is it ever annoying with an aftermarket exhaust. Plus, I still think it's better to have it off IMO.

The concept for cylinder deactivation orginated with the Cadillac V-8 engine of 1981. Nothing all that new about this attempt to marginally improve miles per gallon. Cheaper than building a smaller engine and equipping it with a turbo.

Pretty cool, honestly most of the time I forget it’s even there.
