SCT X4 Failing to flash

Just got this new x4 from 5* and the PCM module had the blue wire pulled out, right from the box. I repaired and plugged it back in but the tuner will not download stock file, or get past the screen telling me to turn key on, which shouldn't happen when flashing via PCM. Any recommendation on how to resolve this aside from just waiting till Tuesday to reach out? I'd like to get it working myself instead of waiting another week or 2 for another pcm cable. I cant even load the SCT tunes, nothing.

Hmm, I have the exact same setup, 21 3.5L, X4 from 5star and mine worked perfect first shot out of the box. Did you get you cal files off your truck, then back to 5star, then your tunes back and loaded on the X4 already? Make sure you have all three PCM connector undone except for the new one to tune, then the X4 powered up and that's it. I compared the pin out of your connector and mine and they match up.

Nope haven’t been able to get anything yet. Finally got through the holiday weekend and got a hold of 5* who reached out to SCT. Apparently there was an issue with a certain batch of cables so they’re sending me a new one :/ Now we wait

So little update… the replacement cable that 5 star sent me did not fix anything. Same failure to read vehicle, so I’m hoping it’s either the x4 itself, the obd cable, or the pcm-obd module, and not a problem with my truck. 5 star connected me with SCT directly to troubleshoot. I spent over an hour on the phone Thursday with Lisandro at SCT (extremely pleasant and helpful) trying different things to no avail. So they sent me an overnight air shipping label to send the device to SCT. They received it around 10am Friday, got it up to tech around 1:00, and now it’s the weekend so I’m assuming I won’t hear anything until Monday :/

If nothing ends up working, I might be forced to change gears and give livernois a shot

Update from SCT: they found “faults” with the original pcm cable I was sent, the replacement pcm cable I was sent, ANDDDD the OBD cable. They finally managed to gather a set of cables that are good, tested on their bench top ECU, and it’s all working good. They’re overnighting everything back to me and I should have it tomorrow. Crazy

SCT is annoying to use. Always force it to update before you make a connection. I just work around its quirks. On mine, if I refuse to save a datalog, it shuts down the app and I have to restart it.

Got the tuner back next day with the new cables and everything finally worked as it should!!

I had the same issue with my cable. Actually it was in wrong pin hole. I was on with support for 2 hrs with no luck . I live in FL and told them I would drive to their shop. Imediately we found my cable pinned wrong(Blue wire 1 spot over). They replaced with another cable. I was able communicate with ECM but didnt program and unplugged the cable. Well the yellow came out. Actually the SCT employee pulled it out. So a 3rd cable was used and programmed good. Went with Oz omega and love it on E85 for my 5.0!!

Those cables seem super janky lol. It's a wonder more people don't brick their PCM doing that.
