I had the pleasure of getting a pin/shank in my tire driving on I-29 from Nebraska back to Kansas today. Put my spare tire on and got the original tire fixed once I got to KC. Before I put the spare back, since I was under the truck anyway - I sprayed any surface areas. Took less than 3 minutes. Way less time than complaining. Granted, mine is a loaded Platinum and shouldn’t come like that, but now it’s done.
What did you spray it with?

This is exactly what my dealer is doing on April 14 2021. Is this a fox or a bandaid? Dealer “Said” it’s similar to the bed liner stuff. The manager of my dealership said “it the rust won’t hurt anything and the bolts rusted are just as strong. Lol this whole thing is a joke!!! Said it’s only appearance issues. So good to spray the axel and leave it at that. I’m DEFINITELY NOT HAPPY AND HOPE FORD DOES SOMETHING ABOUT THIS!!!
Band aid over rotting gangrene.

Just got my truck back from the dealership addressing my rusty diff/axle.

They cleaned the diff and axle and re-painted it, but they didn't address the axle ends.

All in all, this is likely the best I'm going to get out of this since Ford refuses to address this properly. Overall I'm more satisfied than I would have been if the dealership has just told me to suck it up the way it was.

Just wait for few years when the warranty that does not cover defects runs out and you need to replace those rusted and very corroded bolts... then the repairs will cost way more to owners that Ford seems to care less about.

Luckily that will be about 8yrs/150K miles from now. I opted for that level ESP based on the sheer amount of electronics installed in these trucks now. Lucky considering I've already had to bring it in because my 12" screen decided to shut itself off.

Have them remove any rust before coating. You will be good to go!

Picked up a "brand new" 2021 F150 April 3rd. I check under the car after I saw all of these complaints. The whole undercarriage is rusted. I would never think to look under a brand new car. I will be filing a complaint on NHTSA and I suggest others with this problem do as well because this is unacceptable. A brand new car shouldn't look like the parts were taking from a junk yard.

Yep, call Ford set up a case, request a buy back. The only good solution or hire a an attorney and go after them. The dealer and Ford. They knew about this, did not disclose to you then that is a criminal fraud.

Started a claim and have a service inspection scheduled today. Has anyone had any luck with a buy back? I’d like to handle this civilly with Ford and have the vehicle replaced without any legal action.

Based on this thread, it appears that they are basically telling their customers to kick rocks so legal action may be the only option. I’d expect the truck to look like this after 5 years in New England not from the factory with 300 miles.

If you have a good dealer they will likely repair or try to replace vehicle. Mine was bad as yours and it was repaired. It looks good now. Also take a look at the upper and lower rear end attach hardware. Inspect the exhaust system well and front end suspension components. Good luck!

Has anyone recently got their custom order delivered (like in April) and what is the rust looking like. Mine should be delivered 5/16.

I've been waiting to order my truck for months, but this is one of the major reasons I'm seriously considering getting a Ram instead.

Interesting - I'm not seeing many reports of that over on the Ram forum. I'v been monitoring both forums closely to get an idea of the problems with each vehicle.

I purchased a 2010 and 2019 STX and there was zero rust underneath when I bought them. I sold my 2019 to my son a few weeks ago and it had zero rust. My KR should arrive in the next week or two. IF it has rust like I see in many of these pics, I won't take delivery until it is corrected. Having been a Ford employee years ago, I'm sure the sales manager will come in and give his pitch for me to take it and he will make it right but if you refuse delivery until the problem is corrected that will guarantee your dealer makes it right.

Found heavy rust on rear end and some on both shock mounts. Any others out there?
Yes, I am one of the many that have a rusty new Ford. I just picked up a 2021 F-150 Powerboost on March 19th that I factory ordered in January, and it has more rust on the rear differential than my 2018 F-150. It has been reported to the dealer that I purchased it from. Not sure if they will do anything.
I looked at the 2021 F150s in stock at the dealership this last week and found that all of them had rust on them. Some just a little rust and others quite extensive.
