I'm hopeful then. My build date was March 8th, the week before. Hopefully they had already started addressing the issue by then. I should find out sometime this week.

I’m going to work on this in the next week and will send updated photos. 9/22 order, 2/25 Dearborn build, 3/17 delivery. Most of mine seems to be surface rust but still just not a good look by Ford. My dealer said they’d work on it but they are 2+ hrs each way and no idea if that just means spray paint it, so I’ll just do it myself and make them note it in case Ford decides to or is made to do the right thing on this.
I would like to know this also. Picking mine up next Sat. Feb 22 build Week. While no new car should have any visible rust, I would also like to know more about how you know what is really more than cosmetic and how to use this to help negotiat. Yes, I know you can always walk away.
Exactly. Mine was same build week. Would like to be prepared. I could care less about diff (although I will still have them clean it up). Exhaust part scares me a bit.
Finally saw that my truck was delivered yesterday today, dealer closed on Sundays so this will have to wait until tomorrow. But found a lot of rust like others have reported. Does not look good at all. Will be asking my dealer to take care of it before I pick it up.

King Ranch and STX right next to it looked perfect too. King Ranch had a built date last week of Feb. Makes no damn sense at all, even if cosmetic..... how many you would accept deep scratches on doors or hood?
With those right next to yours you should have a bit more leverage. At least with the dealer. Not sure if it will have any impact with Ford.Build date 2/19/21.

What plant was it built at ?My KR just arrived at the dealer, and it’s not pretty (Feb 3 build date). It looks like it was dropped in the ocean, with visible salt residue all over the undercarriage. I get that Ford says rust on the axels and differential is cosmetic, but on the muffler and resonator? I’m not too happy.
That’s been my take on the whole thing. Assuming Ford is correct and it is not affecting the current or future mechanical functionality, the cosmetic appearance of a new vehicle is still important, no? A dent in the hood or someone keying the car before delivery isn’t mechanical, but is clearly not acceptable. It’s just crazy that Ford thinks this is ok and they have no responsibility for this. It surely affects resale value. They knew it was an issue and made a business decision to install rusty parts because they were already behind the 8 ball on production. It’s just a terrible look for their crown jewel and a slap in the face to their loyal customers. With that said, so far, I’m thrilled about the rest of the truck so it makes it more upsetting when you otherwise could be a raving fan for their product.Build date 2/19/21.
