Rust on rear end of 2021 F-150 -- any others?

Found heavy rust on rear end and some on both shock mounts. Any others out there?

MY husband purchased a brand new F150 Lariat 502A in February and after coming across rust information on the internet, look underneath and discovered rust at just under 1k miles. Took it to the nearest dealer and FORD denied warranty. Then FORD denied appeal. It's at the dealer where it was purchased, about an hour away, now. So far all they've done is scrape it up and and try to give it back. We are NOT happy with FORD right now. So far no help from the customer service line or the two dealerships.

This is either very well cleaned up or very not bad. I'm starting to think I really need to push the dealer on mine as it's WAY worse than that. I'll take photos this weekend.

Comparison photo, may help some people with conversation w/dealers. This is the underside of my 2016 F150 after 170,000 miles in (salty) Michigan .... fairly extensive surface rust on the differential and axles / axle end components but note the *original* exhaust muffler! I would not accept any vehicle with a muffler showing rust at delivery - pretty much guaranteed to rust out!

I agree 100%... the rust not only on the exhaust system is unacceptable but so is the corrosion on other surfaces. I am having Ford Buy Back my truck and get me new one. $65,000 for new with rust... no way. TV news, local newspapers etc. Or get an attorney and take them to court, each state has their own "Lemon Laws" to follow. Look up your, start a case keep a log of your notes, email. and phone conversations, get everything in writing. Ford really dropped the ball on us with the rust but I do like the truck. Look at the photos of my rust on the exhaust of my brand new Lariat. My original exhaust on my 2010 Lariat had no rust at all and brand new looks like a 20 year old junker!

Jeff, the rust on the cast iron parts I think is shoddy but don't think anyone should be surprised - try doing a search for rust on the other forum, narrowed to Gen 13 2015-2020 and you'll see this has been a complaint for a long while. However your vehicle was the one I had in mind when I took and posted the picture of my current vehicle - the rusty exhaust components are just bizarre, unacceptable and very much *not* normal - I can understand that a diff "pumpkin" isn't harmed by some surface rust, but your exhaust in pics looks like it's heading for junk fast. Shame on Ford, this deserves all the publicity it can get.

Dropped mine off at the dealership today to get this rectified. It was part of the buying process and they agreed to it beforehand. Body shop manager came over and looked at it and simply said "My God, what the hell happened to this". Truck was bought off the lot the first week of March.

This is how my Dealer was told by Ford to fix it. Did not even address the rust and it looks even worse.

Because the class action will be cheaper for them in the long run.

Have you ever gotten one of those large class action law suit payouts? $5.35/person is a whole lot cheaper than actually paying to clean up and repaint all the affected axles, and replace all the affected exhaust systems.

I would normally agree, but I've now been through the class action for the eco diesel jeep grand cherokee and recieved a $3k check from Jeep (paid for most of the engine upgrade) and they extended the warranty to something like 140k miles (in my situation). The law firm was super helpful when I was getting jerked around by jeep trying to get the pay out and they even looked into the buy back clauses to see if I would be eligible. So it can be done in a way that really puts the pain to Ford.

That is true but there are a lot more F150's on the road that are affected then the Grand Cherokee Eco Diesels, so I think it will be closer to $5.35

Well with the plant shutdowns, they could spend the unused labor on fixing all the trucks they've parked waiting for chips.
