Rough Country SF1 Fender Flares Installed

With the wheel/tire combo I went with, I wanted a slightly more aggressive fender flare to cover it.
Did not want the riveted style, but also didn't want completely smooth.
These were cheap to buy, expensive to paint. But it came out exactly how I wanted.

Are you in a northern state that gets road salt put down? Curious how the paint will look or if rust forms from being trapped between the body and the seal.

Interestingly, no I'm in a Southern state...that gets road salt put down.

The guys who installed for me seemed like they were happy with the rubber seal that came with the kit. I suppose there is always that possibility, but in the end I don't plan to take them off at any point, and I'd also probably rather have that issue than to be driving down those salt covered roads throwing salt all down the side of the truck. I have noticed that since intalling these, it's easier to keep the truck clean because it's not slinging as much grime.

Aluminum will not rust.

I was going to say, these are even no drill install, so paint shouldn't even be compromised. Rubber seal is just going to decrease probability of corrosion inside the flare.

I paid $250 for the install.

I got quotes on paint as low as $450 but ended up spending $1200 on paint. I know I will be judged for this, but my logic was if I'm going to spend this much on a truck, might as well pay to have the aftermarket stuff be done right. The shop that did it is really meticulous about their work. They shot a test panel that looked great to me but then they showed me how in the sun, the metallic wasn't spaced precisely the same as on the rest of the body so they went back and started over. Not something anyone would have ever noticed, but at least I know it's done right.

I will say that the install shop also advised me that Rough Country is lower grade when it comes to the flares, so they were concerned about fitment as I guess they have had issues in the past. But mine were seamless and they were the only ones with the style that I liked.

Yeah, I used FXMotorsports here in Amarillo. They did the paint and install.
